ServiceGuy,

You're right. They are now booking for inspections in January.

I am excited about the completion of this project. Thanks for your insights.

They started taking the construction hoist down today which means the elevators should be running now.

The site has posted Phase II occupancy begins February 2011. There are two units left unsold.

Pre-inspection for me next thurs! I can't wait, finally! Move in date slated for the end of April. Keep everyone posted.

It would be great to get some in unit pics posted from the few that have already moved in.

It is quite quiet here, which may suggest, to some degree and so far, everyone who has done the inspection or moved in is satisfied.

So... how did it go? Was your apartment destroyed by construction damage, incomplete, or was everything in order? If my calculations are correct you must be about half way up the building and a good indicator of the general status of how Claridge is doing with this tower compared to the first.

Everything went really well. Condo unit is in great shape, nothing major was wrong - it actually looked much better than I expected (with the colours and choices I made during the selection process). Wasn't sure what to expect so I kind of went in guarded - but everything turned out great!

Basically, the only thing that I had to mark was the paint in a few spots was not perfect, but I guess perfect is a relative term. A few drips on the molding and a few marks that look like you rubbed your shoulder up against it (a smudge mark is the best way I could describe it) so just went through and put tape on the spots. I say that is pretty minor, considering most people paint over the base white anyways and apparently they are going to basically go through the entire unit again and repaint those spots.

What I was really surprised about was how thick the windows were and the seal was so tight. I didn't notice any noise from Rideau St below at about 2pm with buses and trucks below (and yes I'm about midway up the building). Opened the windows and they were about literally 3 1/2 inches thick, so solid noise cancelling.

All appliances were hooked up and running and all taps/faucets/toilets worked properly etc ... So I'm really excited now to finally get in the place and get settled. I'll give a pat on the back for Claridge doing such a great job!

FeeltheFreedom, congrats! Fill us in on how yours goes aswell. I brought a camera and everything, but I surprisingly completely forgot to take any pictures - maybe you'll be thinking more straight

Also I forgot to mention the best part as far as my view goes, I believe I face North, but I really thought I would be higher than that black DND building in front, but I'm just neck and neck with the top floors . Although looking past the heritage buildings to a 45 degree angle to the left - I can see the entire view of the National Art Gallery (the glass front and the side) and looking directly down the left side I can see the West Block and the Parliamentary Library roof - I think the peace tower is behind 90 George though !!! What a pleasant surprise. I actually thought the buildings would look much smaller but we're actually really close. All in all, considering the view for the price, I think it has to be the best ratio in the city.

FeeltheFreedom & AznHalf ... did either of you order up any fancy or custom type upgrades or floor plan changes? Most high rise builders seem pretty decent these days at the "typical" packages they offer but some can really drop the ball on custom work.

Sure, I will bring my camera with me. But I plan to only focus on the faulties if there's any.

With a South facing condo at this time of year you should have really good lighting in the early to mid morning to check things out. With so few overhead lights these days it can be a challenge at best to do an early or late day PDI in the dead of winter because it's so dark. Keep us posted...

Yeah, no custom upgrades here - everything was really too pricey - I asked for pot lights over the bulkheads along the patio door and in the 2 bedrooms and it was something outrageous like $250 per pot light. So, I just put those ideas to rest pretty fast.

I will put in my own upgrades after I'm moved in. But, in terms of just the basic items/choices - they're very nice already.

A few things I noticed that were different from CP1 to CP2 is that the kitchen cupboards don't go all the way to the top of the ceiling and the breakfast bar is not raised. I asked for them not to have the raised breakfast bar in my agreement anyways, as I think it really broke up the flow of the condo and divided the room up too much. Instead the breakfast bar is an extension of the counter top maybe 1 ft or so from the edge of the cabinet. So this is definitely an improvement over CP1. Also, the cupboards not going up to the top of the ceiling (maybe a 5" gap) to me also looks aesthetically better aswell - having the CP1 cupboards really kinda made them look to blocky and "heavy" (if anyone can relate to what I mean by heavy - kinda like a couch that sits low to the ground in small rooms it looks very "heavy"). So I guess you can store some extra plates and stuff up there or something, but I just like having that space anyways as it's more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Just google. There have been quite a few phase 2 units on the rental market. Some ads get good pictures.

Hi! AznHalf: I would rather have the raised breakfast bar but it is surprising that there is no raised breakfast bar in all the kitchen photos I viewed of more than 10 phase 2 units. The raised breakfast bar is mentioned in the original advertisement pamphlet but I could not locate it in the purchase agreement. Could you advise me where, which page in the purchase agreement, I can find words about the raised breakfast bar? Thank you so much!
