Now that Historic Aerials is back, the building disappears between the 1972 and 1980 images. The area then seems to have been an open parking lot until the parking garage was built between 2012 and 2014.

It will be interesting to see if that huge thing is still there.
I don't think we ever found the Los Palmos Motel. The nearest I found was the Los Palmos Inn at 4278 Westlan Avenue in Fresno, but I got that address from a matchbook and couldn't find any pictures.

What I did find was an almost identical Sno-Breze air conditioner atop Phil's Charcoal Broiler in Redlands. This photo is dated 1938, so ties in with the image above. This one seems to be long gone.

EXCELLENT sleuthing, Hoss!

So the extra tall air-conditioning gizmo is somewhat of a gimmick to attract costumers.

ha ha. . I meant customers.

5426 Virginia Avenue. It was the Matsonia Apartments, but I'm not sure if the name is still in use.

I think this might be another location that came up in NLA v1.0. It was the Fremont Avenue Public School, seen here on the (1938?) Sanborn Map.

www.loc.gov

The school is on the middle-right of this 1955 image from the Goodyear blimp.

These aren't airconditioners in the usual sense, they are giant swamp coolers where water trickles down and as it evaporates the air temperature drops

Pig's necks?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/355567779610

Of course pigs have necks. How else could they keep their aprons on?

Quickstop, is this a 'swamp cooler' on the Wilshire Blvd. Brown Derby?

eBay

I believe we've discussed it before-but what the heck.
