I'd say our weather is more steady than Calgary's and we have a longer growing season, so not sure your argument holds much water. For harsh climates, look at the Persian Gulf or Siberia.

Yeah, Edmonton's winters are warmer than Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg despite being further North. So it is not Novosibirsk FFS
O-tacular told me that Calgary has experienced crazy weather this past Winter and early Spring. Edmonton's more stable weather might be appreciated as climate change accelerates.
