Chinatown, yes; Gastown, not really. Last time I was there, I could count the number of homeless on Water or Cordova with one hand.
Literally a month before that article, Vancouver Is Awesome was citing TripAdvisor when they called the city its
"top travel destination in Canada" and walking food tours of Gastown a "not-to-miss (thing) to do."
