Quebec City is interesting. Built all the way to the river's edge, the river splitting up around Île d'Orléans. I can see that.

The confluence of 3 major(ish) rivers, a man made canal and lake, impressive waterfalls, you can wade across the Rideau in late summer... The list really goes on. Probably my favorite part of the city.

^The new park is completely flooded! Looks like they were right in reviewing their original plan and go with a rock slates ground

Half of Britannia park is flooded every other year (it's flooded right now), and it's fine. It would've been nice if that park had some green too.

I dont think Britannia Park has the same level of current tho. This is literally at the bottom of Chaudiere Fall

I could reach Brittania Beach to check the flooding with my drone from my back patio up on a hill here in Aylmer. It's 7.1kms and range is up to 12kms. I would be worried about getting back against the wind on a single charge though.

I think O2 will look better than O1, though the brick colour may be too similar to Aalto. I think it will end up average at worse, decent at best, but nowhere near the quality we've come to expect on the Ottawa side of Zibi.

I understand I might be in the minority on this but assuming there are are one or more places to get a drink on albert island I would only want it if the existing viewing platform stays public space.

Maybe I've just spent too much time in ottawa but I really don't understand the drive to turn every nice view in the city into a place people have to sit and order at a restauarant. It's not like ottawa is a particularily affordable or attractive city for young people once you take out the ability to enjoy nature and public land without it being commercialized.

If someone wants to drink at a view spot then just have a drink its not hard to be discreet about it.

Platforms have to stay public, obviously. OK, maybe they can have the small one on the left.

Our entire coast lines are viewspots, and I can't think of a single example of a restaurant impeding on a view. Even the Tavern on the Falls has very large public areas on both sides from where you get great views of the water.

Seems like a non existent problem, people just want to have things to do along our waterways.

If anyone hasn't been to Tavern on the Falls I suggest you try it out. Simple menu... tacos and gourmet hotdogs... kind of weird but really tasty. The seats along the wall are like.. lounge areas with big comfy loveseats and for colder nights the center of your table turns into a fireplace. Super chill spot. Excellent first date place!
Can confirm, first or 100'th date, Tavern on the Falls is the place to see and be seen Great on a sunny afternoon or a romantic evening.

Tavern on the Hill was good, temporarily moved to allow for the Nepean Point bridge. Tavern at the Gallery is also good, ambiance is quite 'clubby' even though it's just implanted into the winter garden at the NAG.

The two structures at Chaudiere have been stabilized. The eastern building will remain a shell. The western building has been stabilized in place but not upgraded (yet) with a view to development into a restaurant, B&B, or etc.

What is the ownership? Is this NCC? Hydro Ottawa? Other?

If Zibi can actually make a go of it's built environment and become the place to be, the fit-up of the western building will take place, one day. Really interesting old tunnels/water channels down there, if you haven't been, I recommend it, and make sure you step to the edge of all platforms/fences all around and look dowwwwwwn.

Yes, that's right. They own the hydro facilities on the Quebec side of the Falls as well now.

I moved most of the discussion about restaurants and beer prices to the restaurant thread. Tried to keep the posts that were still somewhat relevant to Zibi.

The views from one of the upper floors of Block 206 (does it have name yet?) would be an SSPer's dream. It'd be essentially like living in a watch tower with mostly unencumbered views to the north, south, and east, getting to see LeBreton and the rest of Zibi rise over time. Imagine watching the library, Dream towers, new Sens arena and many other projects, come to life over the next 5-10 years.
