Construction has started. Marathon drilling has completed several cylindrical steel piles. Wood timber on site for excavation walls. As usual it is known this site has shallow overburden so once removed blasting equipment will arrive.

Blasting for this one too, eh? The neighbourhood FB group is already up in arms about all the blasting we've had for the 90 Champagne build.

Example:
"Does anyone know how long the blasting will go on in our neighbourhood? You have to wonder if a site that requires so much blasting and disruption should be built on at all. Or if the design choices are the right ones for that spot."

If the project requires that much blasting, it likely means a solid base to build your tower.

I guess we should just have 5 floors of above ground parking then. Problem solved! Folks.. imma run for mayor next year on my platform of above ground parking and no blasting!

In all honesty though... construction paired with working from home has to suck if you are right next to it. I sympathize, but I can't imagine this comes as a huge surprise for anyone remotely grounded.

Unless it's the Civic, then blast away hundreds more million in taxpayer dollars.

Tanks for the update. I wonder if it will be built as originally proposed or if they made any changes to the design.

I don't know if I've ever seen so much construction activity in the city. Tower cranes everywhere!

This tiny pocket of the city (2-3 city blocks) is potentially some of the highest density anywhere in the city. Very interesting.

Better connection to Preston, retail, new LRT station and a redevelopment of NRCan will be wonderful for the area.

Or at least a proper double tracked Trillium Line north of the Dow's Lake tunnel. The Dow's Lake station single platform might end up dangerously overcrowded in the coming years.

Man the early buyers of Tower 1 sure got shafted for views. Someday in the near future even the Dow's Lake views will be gone after the DOW Honda and CIBC lots get built out.

Imagine having that epic downtown and river view from the all glass North face of the building for just a few years only to have two giant yellow brick student residences slam down in front of you. Now the South facing views will be gone. The lower West facing views have recently disappeared.

Hence why it's important, when buying a condo, to look at zoning and the immediate area, etc... Your views are rarely ever guaranteed.
