Yeah, I’m not buying that. The building didn’t go from a 28 floor building to a 3 floor building. It was also not ever going to be 377 foot tall tower either.

They went from a 28 floor to a 25 floor tower - likely from about 310 feet (as Atlas suggests) to the 277 feet that has been filed.

This could have been because of a myriad of reasons (costs of steel, the fact that they are building a hotel during a down market, etc), but hardly anything remotely like ‘Comrade’s Rule’

I think I'm ready to call the Glo Hotel project (was supposed to replace the Dream Inn) as cancelled.

I may be wrong, but we haven't heard anything about it since they filed with the city in 2019 and the property was never purchased. I suspect Best Western pulled the project due to the fallout from Covid.

Thoughts?

That design looks straight out of 1995.

Wouldn't be too upset if that one doesn't go through.

On the other hand, that Zwick project looks incredible! Though it looks like it will also be astronomically expensive. A bowling alley and an outdoor jumbotron on the roof??

This is to make way for a 6 floor and 111 residential unit apartment building. This is directly adjacent to the Rocky Mountain Power site.

A Commercial Building Permit for The Rio has been filed. This is the project replacing the former site of The Road Home homeless shelter.

The project is 7 floors (5 over 2) and will 205 residential units (note: the CBP says 206 units). It will include a Clubroom, Fitness Center, Pool, Hot Tub, Bike and Gear Storage and repair, Rooftop Decks, and BBQ and outdoor/indoor gathering space.

Building Salt Lake reported that it will have aprox. 4,000 sq. feet of commercial/ retail space.

According to The Rio's website, Construction is expected to begin Fall 2021 and finish in Q3 2023.

Okay. I know I bitch about a lot of the proposals but holy shit this may be the ugliest fucking proposal I've seen yet. Hopefully it is dead.

The latest RDA funding proposal from the City Council meeting on the 14th includes money for daylighting City Creek along the Folsom Trail, though I don't know the details of what is proposed to be done with this money. Still, luckily daylighting is still very much on the table.

95 State is absolutely one of the SEXIEST highrises ive seen in a long time. Kudoes to SLC! You lucky bastards! Living north of Miami now, and while were booming like crazy (two 100 story towers coming into play) and pre-selling everything), this tower is a fave of mine. I mean, those curves, the color, that crown, that base, that reflection! OH MAN!

It is nice but Miami's skyline has got it going on with both iconic skyscrapers and 20 already built over 600', I visited there last year for the first time ever and was blown away. I'd rather have Miami tower or Scorpion tower personally.
