30 of the 56 units are "affordable". The area was previously zoned for R1 & R2 (single family homes/duplexes), but despite concerns for residence went ahead and voted to rezone the area to R3. I live in the neighbourhood, and while us residence don't question the need for affordable housing in the area, our main concern is that the access is going to be from MacIntyre Ave. The developer already owns land that would allow for a roadway in from Main St. Originally the developer was seeking to have much larger acreage rezoned, which would conceivably allow for another 3 or 4 buildings of this size. They agreed to move the building to the back side of the property, further away from the single family homes and to just rezone the area needed for this complex. But more than likely a few years down the road they will be looking to rezone again.

The amalgamated area of Three Rivers has a population of roughly 8000 people. It must be warranted if it is being built.

It might be 8000 people but they had to take almost half of Kings county to get it. I'm at a loss on why the government did this. The reason to combine services just doesn't make sense. I bet some people will regret it later as the threat of property tax increases will surely follow which is the real reason and the government will love it I'm sure.
I will always think of Montague as Montague. It's a beautiful area but I think the people have lost their identity and community.

1200 rental units in Charlottetown either approved or proposed. This does not include Stratford or Cornwall which both have several hundred themselves.

I saw that on CBC. 1200 additional apartments, so where are they. 800 was proposed last year, that's now up to 1200. Let's get on with it folks. Things are moving way too slow!!

Here is a letter of opposition against this development which is an example of what people will mention to oppose any development in Charlottetown. I hope the city ignores such dribble and looks past this kind of crap. The city knows exactly what it's limitations are and I hope this verbal diarrhea is seen as such, and holds no opposition against this development. This is the only letter received opposing this development. People need to realize that people need these places to live in and need to get down out of their high places. Gheez! They live among us!!

Great use of space and turning this historical building into a place residents and tourists will enjoy. I’m sure each April it’ll basically be a burger love food court.

Expecting...but will city council approve them? Development does not seem to be a priority for this council.

More like public input! It's the biggest killer of apartment construction in Charlottetown. Case in point was the attempt to change zoning at 30 Brackley pt rd in order to build . They had tons of opposition against it. Now that area will remain vacant for decades. So to safely build anything around here apartment wise, you have to build far from any residences or settle in for a big fight. Look at the Minna Jane/Daniel St. which is far from residences and it was approved with only one against. The apartments on Queen St near the Superstore, one opposition. The apartments on Haviland st by the water, it's a go too. Where you're building has a big factor on what gets built.

Steele Group of NS purchased 3 dealers in Charlottetown....... Hyundai, Kia and Subaru. Hence the construction.
