I did not hear anything on this development, however I do know that it has been approved by council. My guess would be an early spring start.

I was driving around Charlottetown the other day and noticed some construction that I wasn't aware.

University Ave and Eden street behind Mikes's meat shop there is a condo/apartment being constructed.

Gower Street and St. Peters Road behind Nick's bakery there is a fairly large apartment/condo being constructed.

King Street on the Queen Street block there is a 4 or 5 story apartment/condo being built.

Anyone have any pics or info about these places?

Gower Street project has been on and off for years. The businessman who was spearheading it a few years ago has since gone bankrupt, so someone else must have taken it on: https://www.theguardian.pe.ca/news/local...-development-planned-for-parkdale-95632/

King Street project: there was a story in The Guardian about it, can't seem to locate it. Drawings were also in City Council minutes about a year ago. Looks like it'll be nice building. I believe an existing building next door to this project is also being renovated as part of the overall project. Should help clean up this block quite a bit.

Invesco unveils plan to add 200 jobs in Charlottetown

New jobs will require more space. Plans will be drawn up for a larger building to house the employees. Up to 600 will be ultimately be needed. The only option downtown is to build up.

Leon's is moving to a portion of the Sears Building in West Royalty. It looks to be occupying about 40% of the space.

Gap stores to close in Canada

Gap owns Old Navy too. We lost Sears, now Gap, then Old Navy may be next. Soon the shopping scene in Charlottetown and many other cities of similar size will be impacted.

I heard they want to spin off Old Navy. It’s really the only profitable thing they own. And honestly it’s not like Sears, Payless & Gap we’re thriving. They didn’t adapt to changing markets and so now they are struggling or extinct.

The split up, which followed a comprehensive board review, come as Old Navy has been thriving, while Gap and Banana Republic have struggled.

So clearly Old Navy is fine they want to seperate their thriving entity from the failures
