I don`t see what all the fuss was about with the Quebec proposal. It looks like a decent proposal and it`s not even close to the historic centre of the city so it`s not like it`s going to ruin an intact neighbourhood or the culture of the city itself.

Couple of Surrey projects in suburban Vancouver. Tallest looks to be ~150m. Good clean but somewhat unexciting designs.

100% agree. That's the point of doing it there...
Also, it's idealy located right off the bridges. That's perfect for a new business center.

True lunacy is when you look a bit deeper in to the pricing.

If you want to buy a 650sqft apartment (that square footage includes the balcony) on the 27th floor or above, expect to pay 2 million dollars. Yup. 2 million dollars for a small apartment in central Vancouver.

I like the look of this project, but I hope it fails spectacularly*.

*It won't.

That Montreal proposal reminds me of a very mini Apple Headquarter.

Is my memory betraying me or is that not a considerable upgrade from the original proposal?

Currently, it's mostly an old industrial wasteland. There are also office buildings fronting the Décarie hwy. The two tallest office buildings are gonna be renovated and integrated into the project while the two lower buildings in between are already in the process of being torn down:

The final project might include a residential component

Oh sweet, that is interesting that this project includes an adaptive reuse component. Top notch for a project this size!

By Lofts - 9-storey condo building on St. Clair, designed by the talented Studio AC:

I was going through their website and stumbled upon a couple of other small projects - no idea whether or not these are still active proposals though. Small commercial building on Geary:

And one on Bayview:

Here's another interesting little project from aA, which proposes a bar perched on top of the brutal Yorkville Marriott podium:

That massive Montreal redevelopment looks great and unlike Vancouver`s Oakridge they won`t be marketed in Hong Kong first.
