Yes, that would be a massive combined lot, and the homes would have been a pretty penny to have picked up.

[EDIT - correcting some erroneous data]

The brick home was last transferred in June for $2.8M, and the ugly one last June for $2.3M. Brick one is currently assessed at $2.68M and the ugly one at $1.64M (the sale of the ugly one was a real deal for the seller!). The new larger lot brings this property up to the same approx. size of its two neighbours. With over $5M sunk just into obtaining the properties being demolished, would expect a home in the final value range of $10M+.
Just think - if a person had been the first owner of the house on the right - and had it until now - back in the 60's you would have a house like that for what now would be a song.
( Like the song says: " Oh, how I wish it were me" )

Another interested piece of info, according to MyProperty a development permit was issued in August for the ugly house but then cancelled.

This will be a palace. I’m looking forward to all the new updates seeing as the other mansion will be done soon.

Can't say I'm too happy to see a beautiful brick house being torn down in Calgary, let alone one you can see from downtown. It seems they are becoming more rare as time goes on.

Note that the brick house was built in 1995.

They did a great job of making it look much older if that's what their goal was. Maybe the mega mansion will be brick as well.

Who cares if it’s brick as long as it dominates Crescent Hill.

You’ve done a fine job giving us updates on the other mansion. I’m hoping you’ll keep up with the same updates for this one.

Why are they stopping at two lots wide? Crescent Road should be one long single family home.

While that's ridiculous Suburgatory, what could be interesting however, would be to allow four lots, two on each side of a laneway, be to joined, and then a larger home built on that. The laneways in the innercity should be done away with anyway - they are just inefficient low density land-use

Agreed. The pathway is apparently littered with garbage anyway so those few homeowners could just dump theirs out on the front sidewalk. It will just blend in with the mess from the public. Then they could cut out the bi-weekly waste bin pickup they do in the alley. Saving some tax dollars which could be put to more square footage.

As I have said a few times already, all the houses in crescent hill should be taken down, replaced with medium condo buildings, something 8 to 12 floors. I prefer around 20 floors but it’s a shok to Canadians so 8 floors will suffice.

But laneways in new suburban developments are okay?

They aren’t okay for suburban areas, and nobody said they were.
