I don’t know if this would ever happen but it sure would be neat if someone could replace one of those mansions with an office building shaped like a lizard.

Seriously though, where do you guys get some if your ideas from? The tooth fairy?

I had already responded to that previously. I'll quote it for you:

You can see that this home is even shorter than the two floor home beside it. And I've been in three floor homes in Crescent Heights.

Weren't you the same guy who said the road should be closed down and the house owners should have the hill all to themselves? Call Aladdin, maybe he can help you with that hair brained scheme.

Please tell us more. Do you own a house cleaning company?

Not everyone wants a third floor. Most don’t even want a second.

What is it with people's obsession with large houses? Who the hell wants a 3 floor house in the first place. It's totally inefficient. That and it doesn't do the neighborhood any good, if you're going to build something that tall, add another floor and make it an apartment building.

The question you should be asking yourself is wouldn’t you go for a big house like that if you can afford it? We were beyond the days of cavemen living in caves, if you can live in a big three-story house then why not do it, and less of course one can’t afford it. And if one cannot afford it, it’s probably easier to criticize those who can.

Because stairs are a pain in the ass. Nobody needs that kind of space. One floor is for living. One floor is for bedrooms. One floor (basement) is for mechanical and miscellaneous. What could you possibly put on the third floor that you’d be willing to go up two flights of stairs every time to use? They already have a view.

Some people prefer to spend their money on better things than basic square footage and the cost to heat the space you’ll rarely use.

I wish I had a bungalow but on a 25’ inner city lot a two storey is the way it is. Plus it was built 108 years ago so I didn’t get much say.

Wow - there we are with the ad hominem attacks once again.

I say house should go higher, and that it is lower than other homes in the area, which also include homes that go three floors.

You respond that there are bylaws against heigh.

I reply again that the house in question was lower than other homes in the area, including ones that go three floors.

You respond by making a personal attacking asking if I have a cleaning company. LOL!

There are numerous homes in that area that are three floors, and most of them are designed to be no taller than a two floor home with a gable roof.

Example one:

Example two:
https://goo.gl/maps/bYa71ULrs8A2

I've been in the first of those two. There is an elevator, so no issues going basement to floor three for those used to condo dwelling. Beautiful classic Calgary set-up where business can take place at the top. Lots of great custom detailing.

I don't think an apartment building would fit with the character of the area, and I'm sure there are bylaws against that also (for that particularly stretch anyway).

If you don't, I don't see why the number of floors and square footage someone chose to make their private residence matters to you.

Nobody attacked you by asking if you had a cleaning company. It's a legit question. Answer it and move on.
