The press release said "Sunwing Vacations will also offer packages between Ottawa and Liberia for the first time", but did they not offer it pre-Covid? I thought Dominion301 mentioned that when PD launched it last year. But yeah, there's about a 1% chance they bring this back if Porter isn't in the market.

I just checked since when TS announced the integration with PD flights for vacation packages, there was a note that LIR was coming later. It's still not available, hopefully TS gets that sorted sooner rather than later.

I'm pretty sure LIR was served on Sunwing for one season but not in 2019-20. SJD was served for much longer pre-COVID with WG.

I don’t recall YOW ever having service to LIR before PD but I’ll stand corrected. For what it’s worth I also asked 3 different AIs and they all said no to “Did YOW ever have nonstop service to LIR before Porter airlines?”

So probably just SJD was ever served…unless it was briefly served pre-AI (lol) in the 90s like AUA was when Sunquest was still around.

Today’s departure count: 87

Today's cancellation count (so far): 4 - three of which are to EWR, so I'm guessing NYC's getting thunderstorms today.

Redeye AC 128 YVR-YYZ diverted to YOW this morning. Nothing too exciting as it was a 321. Continued on to YYZ at 0930. YYZ was reporting thunderstorms this morning at 0600.

Today's cancellation count (so far): 1

AF 327 on gate 17, AC 345 on 28 & AC 888 on 15

PD 2497 to YHZ showing as on gate 11 instead of 13B. Gates 29 & 30 both have flights off them today, while gate 3 is still no ops.

AC345 (A321) stopped enroute at YWG tonight for about 25 minutes. Looked to have been planned, per Flightaware there was no diversion and the flight plan was filed YOW-YWG. Must have been heavy headwinds and/or weather avoidance enroute that made them think it couldn't go nonstop to YVR?

Could be as it's not unheard of with 321CEOs on transcons, especially in fall/winter. YVR was reporting clear skies last night, but maybe they also had to take a sub-optimal routing because of forest fires? They left YOW 21 mins late and only arrived 1h13 late.

Question for the guru's here. Did Ottawa ever have non-stop service to SXM?

Strong winds and a full flight (aka lots of luggage) was the reason for the fuel stop.

This week's AC888/889 premium loads.

Monday: AC889 was full in economy, I didn't take a screenshot of premium loads for some reason; AC888 was
26/31 J, 11/24 PY
Wednesday (788): AC889 full Y/J, 20/21 PY; AC888 17/19 J, 14/21 PY
Thursday: AC889 full Y, 28/30 J, 15/24 PY; AC888 27/30 J, 12/24 PY
Saturday (788): AC889 full Y/PY, 19/20 J; AC888 completely full.

On the Transat side, YOW-LGW isn't loaded yet for next summer. You can fly one-way eastbound for next week's flights for $368.

Thanks for the insight! I was looking at YOW-YYC last night which flew a similar route and it seemed to me that the flight time was pretty normal. Maybe headwinds were stronger over the Rockies.

AC has swapped YOW-YYC to a 223 for September post-Labour Day, as well as non-787 turns on AC342/345 and some AC341/343. Some days AC is only running 2x 223 (274 seats per direction) on that route. Last September the 789 alone had more capacity than that, and there were two other 7M8s as well. In other words, capacity is down well over 50%.

Yes. Can't remember whether it was when WS flew charters for TS pre-WS Vacations or scheduled WS on a 73G. Would have been circa 2003-2009. Can't remember how many winters it operated.

Sunquest back in the 90s may have as well with a Royal or First Air 727.

Yes, Sunwing did in 2016. 1 weekly if I recall. I took the flight down with their all inclusive package.

I've been doing dummy bookings over the past couple of weeks to check the seat map and prices. I saw YOW-LGW to be much cheaper with overall less pre-booked seats but LGW-YOW in some cases are $2000+ with almost a full flight as per seats already taken, far before the 24 hour check in is open. One some days, going to LGW is also pretty packed but coming to YOW I found to be consistently doing very well.

Great. Thank you both... I thought someone offered that destination.
