I think Avenir did the job for it. Now when you see Avenir Centre, you think about Moncton (in my case anyway).

Odds of it being a

Rogers Forum or TD Pavilion to match up to the other arenas around the country. I prefer the Avenir as it's a unique name across bigger arenas.

Agreed. Avenir sounds optimistic and cheerful. It matches the arena well. And, as you have said, it is unique. When you hear the Avenir Centre, you automatically associate it with Moncton.

Avenir Hearing however is a small audiology company primarily centred in eastern and northern NB. It really had no business in the first place of acquiring naming rights for the largest arena in the province.

The Avenir Centre has proven it's worth as a sports and concert venue since it has opened. It is right up there with the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax as an regional events venue. The naming rights this time around will be much more valuable than they were the last time I am quite sure, and will undoubtedly be too rich for a small audiology company to afford.

After 2028, the Moncton events centre will not be called the Avenir Centre.

The rights will likely be picked up by a major national bank or media conglomerate (how many Rogers Centres are there in the country again???).

I suppose Irving could compete for the rights (Majesta Royale Centre anyone). I suppose other possibilities could be the Kent Building Supplies Centre, Midland Centre, Armour Logistics Centre or Greenfoot Energy Centre.

Anyone else with other possibilities????

I have become quite fond of calling it the Avenir Centre. I will miss it.

If it's not the big 3 my guess would be Irving Oil Arena or Greenfoot Fortress

The colour scheme of the building (most notably the red and black seats) would work terribly with greenfoots branding, and you arent going to change the arena to all green seats. Maybe thats overthinking it but I suspect itd be more likely to go Scotiabank, Armour, Canada Life, Rogers etc. Or an Irving Company.

....or keeping with Moncton culture how about the Costco Centre ?

Does the city actually benefit from the money for naming rights or does it just go into ASMs pockets?

It'd be nice if some of that money could go into some minor upgrades to the facility. Not that theres much to be upgraded but I am just thinking more along the lines of sprucing up the concourse concession areas, adding LED lighting on the glass, improving concourse signage, adding a screen outside for upcoming events.

and to continue my stream of consciousness, I wonder how soon we will get some sort of tribute piece to Robert outside or inside the building. A statue might be too much but some sort of dedication near the oval or in the lobby area would make sense.

I think if there is any tribute to Robert Irving, it would likely be funded by the team, and would be in the internal concourse rather than on the plaza. I could actually see a small statue of him in the concourse, gazing upon the photos of past Wildcats teams. I think that would be fitting and appropriate.

When were the last time Avenir's seats were refreshed? Changing their colour scheme to go along with a corporate rebranding would make sense, especially if a seating refresh is due. There might be a year or two of "clashing" colour schemes as the decision making is done and the renovations are queued up within the centre's schedule; but I wouldn't use that as an excuse to discount a possible naming rights company.

If a Green-themed company gets the right, we can just call it the Christmas Centre for a year or two until the colours are sorted out.

They would have been 'refreshed' when the arena was completed in 2018. Doubt they gut the seating area just to match with a potential sponsor.

Google AI suggests that arena seating is replaced on a 10-20+ year schedule; so 2028 for a refurbishment would probably be a bit early. since it does seem the seating does seem in decent enough shape.

It's unlikely but if it is a new naming rights holder for the next decade coming on board, I wouldn't completely eliminate a seating refurbishment (replacement) as a possibility. It's just unlikely.
