1969 was the year that Jane Wyman and Hope both appeared in their last Hollywood feature roles in “How To Commit Marriage”, essentially a flop with audiences. During filming, the wedding scene was filmed in a church just off Hollywood Boulevard on N. Gramercy…right where the pot bust movie premierce would later be filmed for L.A. Confidential. IMDB has at least one shot of the unnamed church here:

I was the last person to get Hope’s autograph at the end of the work as he was leaving in the limo. He actually had the driver halt the car after I said exactly how much I wanted his signature. There’s another story about Mr. Gleason during the location shoot..a real nice fellow if you ask me but I can’t speak for everybody else out there. Matheson of course went on to fame as one of the leads in Animal House, a comedy way more successful. Reagan, the future you know what, had something to do with that church and Wyman had committed marriage with him in the past. Graham did document that church in her coverage of Hollywood Blvd. eastward of Vine.
