I’m assuming they’ll have it done before closing Broadway there.

I walk past it daily. They have until the end of FIFA to finish Cambie, after which time I'm guessing Broadway gets shut down and the Cambie/8th intersection will be an ugly mess. Right turns from Cambie to eastbound 8th will be rough for busses, I'll hazard. Workers have already reduced the curbing on the SE corner to help with the corner but being more than a 90 degree turn, pedestrian life in that area will be fun in a not-fun way.

Wondering if a bus priority signal will be installed and they'll have the buses turn from the middle of the street instead? Like the reverse of what they were doing at Mount Pleasant Station where the buses turned from SB Main to EB Broadway from the curb lane and had an advance light.

June 2026 pic of the escalators from Canada Line southbound platform down to the Broadway Extension concourse:

Those are the escalators on the lower right of this diagram:

Love it!

Though it's funny seeing the scale of a single set of escalators (3) on one side of the platform being larger than anything in the entire Canada Line

Traffic deck removal is underway at the future Arbutus Station. Crews are currently removing traffic deck panels and
girders on Broadway between Maple and Cypress streets. To support this work, the crosswalk across W. Broadway at
Maple Street is moving to the west side of the intersection on Friday, June 19. Crews will continue with backfilling and
will begin utility reinstatement at the Cypress Street and Broadway intersection, as well as on W. 8th Avenue between
Arbutus and Maple streets. The north side of W. Broadway will be restored first, allowing traffic to be maintained while
work continues on the south side. W. Broadway will remain open to vehicles one lane in each direction. As construction
activities change, we are also able to reinstate two-way traffic on W. 8th Avenue between Arbutus and Burrard streets
beginning as early as June 20. At the same time, a new truck access to the site will be created via W. 8th Avenue.

It’s still pretty cool that we will have a fully subterranean transfer / hub Station. That is a big city element, and guessing it will remain the only one in Western Canada for many many decades.

There will probably be more people transferring between trains than entering/exiting the station itself, so it's warranted to have capacity between platforms than out of the station... that being said a large portion of people that will be doing the transfer are already using the smaller Canada line escalators/stairs.

One could argue that Granville and VCC are fully transferable underground if you go through Pacific Centre. If you lie to yourself it's one station it almost makes it feel like an East Asian metro station.

It can be about as confusing as Shinjuku to make that transfer too.

Not a very convincing argument to make while the former Bay property remains shuttered.

I guess it's more of a necessity here.
The proposed underground transfer station at Dunsmuir (Granville Station) for Expo Line / Canada Line was considered too expensive (with Waterfront one stop away).
VCC Station was originally at Robson, but moved north to facilitate transfers on Georgia from West Vancouver buses.

At Main, new sidewalks have been poured along Broadway over the past few days and are now open. The entire length of the south side is open to pedestrians. Most of the construction fencing along the street has also been removed.
Power washing of the curb lanes is ongoing which I take indicates their opening is imminent.

All 4 lanes open tomorrow:

Over the last several months, crews have been busy restoring Broadway between Quebec and Main streets and all four vehicle lanes will be open as of June 25, with some intermittent lane closures still required to finalize sidewalks, the final lift of asphalt, and other finishing work. The installation of green infrastructure along the boulevard, as well as street furniture on the newly widened sidewalks will continue through the summer.

I assume that Quebec is still closed at Broadway? The left turn lanes will be blocked I would guess.

Still lots of construction on Quebec for vent shafts and the emergency escape.

It's me or it seems like there are no holes anywhere for the trees near the sidewalks?
I really hope I'm wrong becasue they are in the project and it would be disappointing if broadway becomes one of those roads with all cars and no greenery.
It's the opposite of what the plan was and it kind of kills the entire vibe of "major street" with patios and stuff.
