I don't know what their food tastes like and I don't intend to find out. They are owned by a militant homophobe and their name is synonymous with hatred. Disappointed in the ppl here who "don't care about that stuff". Shame.

They have been moving away from their past over the last few years and disassociating from their old homophobic mandate the dead founder started. Virtually all large businesses and corporations have an unscrupulous history, to the point that I'd have to boycott the vast majority of them if I didn't support all of their past actions. Chick-fil-A is finally moving in the right direction....and they have HeavenChicken.

We could be having the same debate as with Stella Luna on the Retail thread.

My two cents is that I am tolerant with groups that are not open with that stuff as I am tolerant with groups that support those stuff. I don’t think they preach hate. They just have different set of morals from you. That world has be come way too polarized.

I'm not at all religious but I have to respect people who put their values over money. Can't wait to try their chicken.

This is amazing news! I've heard great things about the food and the company culture (e.g. they seem to treat the employees better than competitors) and I'm excited to try the Chicken!

Given the limited food options at Tanger and the fact that this is the first Canadian Chick-fil-A outside of southern Ontario I expect they will be quite busy.

Does anyone know if Panera Bread will be adding new locations? Tanger would be a perfect location for Panera Bread.

Looks like an epic drive-thru. I imagine they are expecting some serious demand.

If it's like the one in Kitchener, it is quite an operation. Dual drive through, plus a system where roving employees take orders while you are waiting and then delivers it to your table. Haven't made it out to this one, but the building in Kitchener is a notch up from your typical fast food.

I’m eager to try it but not eager enough to wait hours in line. Crumbl has been open at College Square for a while now and still regularly has 1-2 hr+ lineups at all times of the day. I wonder if placing a mobile order would help avoid the wait. If anyone gives it a shot, please do share your experience. I normally only venture out that far into the boonies for Sens games or golf, so I want to make it worth the trip lol.

Maybe once the Chick-Fil-A opens in Rideau Centre in a couple of months, it will help spread the crowd.

The Rideau Centre location is the one I'm really looking forward to, it just sucks that hours will be limited to the opening hours of the mall. Would be nice if they had a street-facing entrance to let them stay open longer like Chipotle.

Updated proposal. This was an opportunity to integrate residential into the pedestrian village esthetic and built form of the Tanger, but of course this ends up being a separate thing surrounded by galores of parking. I do like the design of the buildings though, colour and roof lines.

DevApps: https://devapps.ottawa.ca/en/applications/D07-12-26-0037/details

Description: The Applicant is proposing to construct six (6) multi-unit residential buildings of six (6) storeys in height onthe Subject Property, as shown in Figure 6 below. The proposed development will create 472 new residentialunits to achieve a density of 146 units per gross hectare and a floor space index of 1.27. The proposeddevelopment will provide 551 parking spaces, 195 of which are provided within underground parkadesassociated with each building, and 62 bicycle parking spaces.

Additional details:

The unit mix includes 40 studio units, 63 one-bedroom units, 169 two-bedroom units, and 200 three-bedroom units to provide a diverse range of housing options. Each unit type includes various floor plan options in order to best accommodate a range of design preferences for future residents.

Vehicular access is provided via Huntmar Drive to the east and the unnamed road to the north which connects to the ring road associated with the neighbouring Tanger Outlet shopping centre. This unnamed road is currently constructed to the property line of the Subject Property but closed to the public.

Given the proximity to Highway 417, there are no buildings proposed to be located within the 14-metre Ministry of Transportation Ontario setback area. The only development occurring within this setback area includes landscaping, drive aisles, and parking spaces.

Not until Huntmar / LRT is dealt with imo. Does being in the TOD impact the proposed parking for this?

Its a gawd awful location but if folks want to live there have fun.

This has to be the worst location for housing I've ever seen. Right next to a highway? Two-road access with one of the streets going through a shopping complex?

This could have been okay if they made two high-rises with green space and no surface parking. Who would live here? You know they're gonna be priced the same as a condo downtown!

We are going full Calgary with this design. Their downtown might be amazing but the surrounding city is filled with crap like this. It looks like it was rendered in MS Paint. Hopefully, they can come up with something a little more inspired for the final product.

You don't even have to look far! Just down the road in Kanata Lakes we have the Uniform condos on Boundstone:

or even the Foxwood which is a few years older:

Nice landscaping, primarily underground parking, not directly abutting a 400 series highway
