The proposed development is the second phase of the Tanger Outlet Centres development on the south side of the Feedmill Creek corridor. The development will consist of six (6) free-standing pads intended for restaurants, and one (1) six-storey hotel. The buildings are designed around a primary access driveway that connects Huntmar Drive in the east with the Creek crossing in the west. The hotel building is located at the south edge of the site, adjacent to the highway. Restaurants have generally been oriented along the north edge of the drive aisle, adjacent to the creek
corridor to preserve opportunities for interaction with the natural feature of the site.

The hotel is six (6) storeys and will contain approximately 134 rooms. The hotel has been centred on the Feedmill Creek Crossing, a private roadway linking the Tanger project, to create a vista for vehicles and pedestrians travelling south across the creek crossing. A similar design approach was taken with the retail centre buildings in Phase 1 to create a vista from the crossing.

The six (6) restaurant buildings have areas ranging from 365 square metres to 517 square metres. Each restaurant building has the opportunity to provide an outdoor patio space, subject to tenant specifications and requirements.

Five new restaurants? Restaurants in Kanata are struggling as it is...

Are they? Every time I go, the ones in Centrum are always fairly busy.

I dont think restaurants in Kanata are struggling, but Tangers is struggling and needs to create as much pull as it can for patrons.

Skirt Steak closed, 'Rare' is on life support, Philthy McNasty's didn't last, O'Connor's closed up shop, The Keg is still on hold. It's a tough market!

I'd forgotten about Philthy McNasty's. Never went to Skirt Steak but had bad reports from friends who went. O'Connor's was a brutal place and I'm not crazy about its replacement (very expensive for what you get...acoustics are awful).

I prefer the Cheshire Cat and in Centrum I like Ox Head and Tomasso's Pizza.

What happened to that dessert place in Centrum? and that place called the Bulldog or something like that? It was near Ox Head and seemed to be only open at night.

That's the thing with the Tanger Outlets as-is today.. they are nice but it's a drive in, shop a bit, then drive out type of place. If there were restaurants a hotel, a hopefully some apartments/condos then it could become more of a destination where people stay longer or are in the area for more than a stop at GAP.

Also agree, they would need to build a pedestrian overpass from the Outlets to CTC (I actually really like the glass one at Coventry/VIA Rail. But then again, I'm guessing the City might want the SENS to chip in on such crossing which they might not want to do; especially if they are proposing to move to Lebreton... hmmm...

The relative lack of residential in the area does not help either...

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but plans for a Chick Fil A at 333 Huntmar (Tanger) were filed with the city in Spring 2023.

Whaaaa?? I'm in DC this weekend and I've eaten Chick Fil A twice. It's absolutely fricking amazing!!!!

I've heard its the best fast food chain around. Can't wait to have one locally.

Very simple menu. Very high quality. They grow their chickens in heaven.

They probably wish that they did... the owners are hyper-religious. They don't open their stores on Sundays. They're also highly controversial for their hard-core Christian social views.

Yeah, questionable social views aside, Chick Fil A is top notch. The arrival of popular US chains like Popeyes or Chipotle were different because the buzz stemmed mostly from the fact that they were previously unavailable to us, so that was part of the allure. But Chick Fil A is different in the sense that when I talk to my American friends who've lived within a short distance of a CFA franchise for many years, they STILL rave about how great it is (whereas Popeye's, Chipotle, etc. are nothing special to them). Hell, even my friends in Toronto wouldn't shut up about how they were only city in Canada to have Chick Fil A. So I'm definitely excited for this, but I just wish they were opening in a more central location. I plan to eat there a lot more often than I plan to go out to Tanger Outlets.
