FCP was the 6th tallest building in the world when it was completed and the tallest outside of NYC or Chicago. A small increase in height would not have been enough to overtake the Chrysler Building as 5th tallest, while at 292m, it is less than 2m ahead of the next tallest 70 Pine Street previously known as the AIG building. Anyone interested in height would likely be more interested in that than in some arbitrary number. Especially since the metric system was only first introduced in Canada in 1970 and not yet in common use meaning that 300m wouldn't have been considered relevant. So I don't see any "settling".

Regardless, FCP was built to address a severe office space shortage at the time rather than for symbolism or prestige. So it seems odd for someone to be perplexed that they didn't design the building to meet a goal that the developers never claimed to have to begin with.

the ad board at street level says 109 floors so they have higher to go, apparently depending on what floor they are on now.

There are two heights listed in the thread title, one 1153 feet, the other 1009 feet, and 106 floors and 92 floors, wondering the reason

The 1,009 ft, 92 floors, is a reference to the third phase of One Yonge, but with the condo market still in the tank, it is unlikely to start anytime soon.
Incidentally, the title can be changed. Last September the city approved a height increase for Phase 3 to 1,051 ft (320.4m), 95 floors.
Phases 4 and 5 are planned at 85 and 80 floors (971 ft and 919 ft).

according to below the tower still has 3 more floors to go to get to 109 floors and will be higher than CN Tower observation deck so looks like its still heading upwards ! :

Nice to see Skytower finally in the wikipedia list of Tallest buildings though it barely makes their criteria of 350 meters or 1148 feet high by a mere 5 feet !

The drawings I made have had their status changed to "Vision" for some reason... that's why they didn't show up in your search.

Calling a tower "Pinnacle" yet it has no pinnacle, how misleading and callously bad nomenclature.
