Lou McNairn is an elementary school K-5. after that, anglo kids in Dieppe typically go to Lewisville Middle School and then MHS.

Probably a good chance this new school is in the new extension of Dieppe Blvd area. I think it's been rumoured for awhile.

Thanks for the correction!

I'm not sure how I feel about k-12 schools, but, I am sure that they will go out of their way to make sure there is no real mixing between the k-5 crowd and the middle and high schoolers. You see big combo schools like this more frequently in the French districts.

It I'm right, they will immediately start the site selection process.
I would assume this is the case. I have a contact that is quite close on the process and a K-12 school has been a priority in Dieppe now for quite some time. Last I heard this was expected to open in 2028.

The new school announcement is actually for a new k-8 anglophone school in Moncton East to replace Sunny Brea and Forest Glen schools.

I/m not complaining. These schools are small, old and outdated (especially Sunny Brea). A new school here is desperately needed.

The new anglophone school for Dieppe remains a top priority. Perhaps it will be announced next year.

FYI, the Dieppe K-12 was given the go-ahead in late 2023: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/nb-government-budget-six-new-schools-1.7042399

It was announced in a capital budget - in 2023. Here's the GNB release: https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/education/news/news_release.2023.11.0588.html

Reported by Expansion Dieppe:

Quote:
Another piece of land finds a taker in downtown Dieppe!

Expansion Dieppe officially closed yesterday the sale of their land located at 268 Champlain Street, next to the Exit Realty building.

A six-storey mixed-use building will come to light, including:
▪️ from the commercial to the ground floor
▪️ five storey residential
▪️ underground parking, in addition to outside parking around the building
This is located on the south side of Champlain Street next to the Exit Realty building, on the eastern fringe of the downtown core. There is a vacant lot in this location.

Dieppe is developing a very respectable downtown core. You can feel it as you drive along Champlain Street. It feels like a dense downtown with closely aligned multistory buildings, with a healthy inventory of mixed use buildings. Vitality is growing in the neighbourhood.

If you ignore the taller buildings along Main Street in downtown Moncton, downtown Dieppe in some ways feels healthier (certainly less downtrodden, and with a greater inventory of modern buildings).

Obviously not a "small retail plaza." Apparently a six storey 50 unit apartment building with ground floor commercial space. The impressive densification of downtown Dieppe continues.....

This building on Champlain Street is now at full height (six storeys) and fully enclosed. It is having an impact on the city skyline.

Other projects on Champlain are soon to come as well.

1) - Expansion Dieppe sold the vacant lot next to Exit Realty earleir this week, and hinted that a six storey mixed unit building is coming.

2) - Angie's has been sold, and I have no doubt this signals a significant development here as well (right across from city hall).

This will give a full four block stretch of Champlain Street downtown which will have developed a significant streetscape which did not exist 10 years ago.

Structural steel has gone up for the first of these buildings on Englehart Street in the Dieppe Business Park

I'm curious if anyone has concrete information about this, or does it remain a rumour?

Nothing has changed on the property records. That could just mean the deal has yet to close.

In a recent email to anglophone east staff, the district superintendent indicated that locations are being worked out for the new dieppe anglophone school. It won't be long before shovels are in the ground!

Looking at some pictures from Quest Properties on Facebook it looks like they took down the tower crane at the Balade. I wonder if they will move right on to the 6 story across from Champlain soon. I imagine they need to do some servicing on the tower crane, now that’s it’s down, it has been up for quite awhile.

According to a post in Retail Talk & Share, both Montana’s and Kelsey’s have listings on line looking for franchisees in Dieppe. In both cases, these would be second locations in greater Moncton

This is very interesting - from CCD Canada:

RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS, 262 CENTRALE ST., MEMRAMCOOK - MEMRAMCOOK, NB
NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

Starting Date (estimated): 2026-10
Location: MEMRAMCOOK (NB)
Size: $34,300,000.00
Stage: 2-Planning
Published: 2026-03-20
Last Update: 2026-03-20

Work type: New construction
Sector: Private
Category: 4-Residential
Subcategorie: 4B-Residential Development
Disciplines: Architecture, Civil, Electricity, Equipment, HVAC, Building mechanic, Structural, Other

Description:
NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

Located in Memramcook, 262 Centrale St., this project estimated at $34 300 000 is in the initial stage. It is slated to begin in October 2026. Works concern the phased construction of residential buildings with up to 108 units including apartments, townhomes, and duplexes.
Looking at the map, this is a rural property on Centrale with an old house on it. $34M is a lot of coin (equivalent of a couple of substantial six storey apartment buildings) This is the first I have heard about this.......

As Dieppe continues to densify, Memramcook will be more and more desirable for people to live.

Houses are very in demand out there, I guess it was only a matter of time before we saw a large residential development out there. Not sure if the locals will be too impressed but a development like this could help get some additional services out there (grocery, restaurant etc.). It really doesnt have much, I suppose with Dieppe being so close.

On the other side of town I think Salisbury is due for a growth spurt too. The town already has exurban characteristics, and has easy access to the TCH. There is also an impressive cluster of highway services at the TCH exit, a new supermarket is being built, there is a new oversized fire station, and a new school is planned. Some of my children's friends are muttering about moving out there. Even my youngest son is thinking about it.
