All the ingredients are in place to make Granville the next East Hastings. Granville Street is lined with supportive housing and SRO's, and you have businesses closing or struggling because a large population of highly dysfunctional people are disrupting their businesses.

When the Broadway Corridor starts to build up, and it starts to look and feel much like the downtown peninsula, businesses along Granville will start to move away from Granville and into the Broadway corridor neighbourhoods, where Main Street will be a much better version of Granville Street. Or South Granville.

This is what happened to East Hastings in the DTES. All the businesses moved west to greener pastures, and all that was left was poverty and addiction. The same thing will happen to Granville Street.
