That’s terrible, I was hoping this development would be an adaptive reuse of the church and an addition.

Its probably unrecoverable. Thr problem with a lot of those old churches is they're resting on the ground with no foundation, like the Anglican cathedral downtown. I cant speak for this one specifically but it'd probably be cost-prohibitive to restore it, especially for a non-profit, non-denominational church.

I was skeptical of those bifold glass doors when they put them in as part of the new Victoria Fire HQ, but low and behold they seem to work well and maybe better mechanically than the roll up ones.

That type of door seems to be less forgiving with ice and snow/slush tho.

I am sure the fire fighters will find enough time to shovel it clean regularly - but I suspect that is why this type of door isn't that common around here.

Maybe it's just me but Losing a building in Winnipeg from the 1800's is sad.
We have very few remaining.
I am not in the restoration biz so I have no assurity it can be savaged but still not a fan of witnessing a beautiful 1890's building wrecked for a cookie cutter boring grey slab of concrete.

I don't have the time to go back and look on the city site to see if the tender drawings spec'd a heated apron where the doors are to keep the snow / slush at bay. That station is a geothermal set up so it probably would not have been too hard to put a loop set in there.

The city in a press release said that the doors save 15 seconds on response time compared to opening a normal overhead door.

say what u want about the 'burbs but the density around Bonavista (Warde - Evelyn Reese - De la Seigneurie) is very high, I think that is building #7 built in past 3 years. My elderly parents live around there. Unfortunately, unlike Sage Creek there not shopping amenities but Sage Creek is a short 15 minute walk / 5 min drive.
