I believe Lot J is the 'Brightwork' building on the right/left respectively of the images below. Not sure if these reflect official or current renderings for this project but they seem to imply ~15-17 stories depending on what's considered grade (the site steps down closer to the water around here).

Many thanks for the info/update!

That seems to be the most likely and consolidates this area as U/C. Probably the most efficient spot to start up on the property.

I've always found that first rendering odd. Are they building townhouses next to Brightwork?

Did I count that right and that 24 floors are completed and that 25 is being poured?

I noticed this weekend that foundation work has started on Building J. This has a building permit submitted for 15 Floors - 95 Units.

Nice to get all the KW infill, but I'm really hoping for the day you say a permit has been issued for building 'E'!
(I think that's the one)

Are they still required to have an additional access point built before the almost finished building can be occupied?

Halifax Planning Case 2024-01065

This is the Stage 2 development agreement proposal for Building 'J' now known as BRIGHTWORK. This will be 15 floors with ~95 units. There are townhouses and a small commercial building planned. The iconic part of this building will be the restaurant which is two-storeys tall with a large outside, covered patio and unobstructed views across the harbour to Downtown Halifax.

Fares has stated the emergency access will be constructed this year by Dexter. It will be between The Kevel and Brightwork. They plan to start construction on Brightwork later this year and if things go well the next building will be a ~30-storey building.

I've updated the thread title to reflect both buildings.

"It is noted that the Stage 1 Development Agreement requires that a secondary “grade separate emergency access” for King’s Wharf be constructed before Occupancy Permits may be issued for this building, however building permits can be issued to allow constructed to start before the access is complete. This application does not include the details of the grade separate emergency access, however an application for this access is anticipated in the near future."

I wonder if it would ever be possible to restore the canal to the point that small boats could travel from the harbour over to the Minas Basin and Bay of Fundy. There must be so many locks that it would be prohibitively expensive to operate just as a novelty and tourism thing.

I am not entirely sure but the main impediment to that Idea is a consistent Water depth. Some of the Lakes have been quite starved in the last couple of years especially late August September. This time of year, lots of water.

Paddling on Banook requires that water level in Banook be maintained.

It looks like a tall mobile crane is setup here for tower crane removal based on NS Webcams - Pier 21 Camera.

The brick work is coming along nicely on the podium of the tower. They have finished the stepped insets around the main entrance and I would argue they look better then anything downtown Dartmouth has seen in a long time.

It looks really good. If the rest of the podium comes along at a similar level of quality it’ll really be a standout—better than most of what we’ve seen in downtown Halifax recently.
