City planning staff is recommending that Council approve the zoning changes that would allow for this proposed building.

This goes to the planning committee on July 16th and then to full council on July 23rd.

The Mayor posted on his social media pages that they have officially broke ground on this site for this future affordable housing development and they expect it to be ready for tenants by the end of next year.

However, I can't find any site-plan applications or building permits that have been filed for this site.... so I would think they would both be filed soon.

This article mentions the address 1500 Huron Street, which when you search it up in the City's registry shows both a Site Plan file and a Building Permit. As well, the Site Plan file states that it was formerly 1 Fallons Lane, so the Church must have split off these lands from the rest of the Churchs property.

Hopefully we start seeing steady progress soon for this project!

Thanks so much for looking into it! It is common for a site to have several different addresses and the city's official interactive map usually does a good job at showing all possible addresses... but this must have been a fairly recent severance (as you stated) and doesn't show up yet on the official map.

Great to hear that both have been filed.

Heavy equipment now working the site to strip off the parking lot pavement. Not sure if this will have underground parking and a lower level or they will build at grade.

Getting close to finishing up the 5th floor concrete block walls in this 6s low rise apartment building. Could see them start installing the 6th floor precast concrete floor slabs next week.

Have now installed the 6th floor precast concrete floor slabs and are prepping to start building the 6th floor concrete block walls. With good weather they may have most of the 6th floor block walls built by the holiday break.
