Saw a new project by Brigil near the Provigo. The former building with the Dairy Queen (that was there a very, very long time ago) is entirely demolished.
Statement by Brigil:
Quote:
Brigil has received the green light from the City of Gatineau to begin demolition and excavation of the infrastructure at 714 Saint-Joseph Boulevard. Eventually, the obsolete buildings will be replaced by a structuring project of some 230 rental apartments, which will help alleviate the housing crisis that has plagued the region for several years.
A fine example of urban densification on a human scale, the new project will be built in an existing neighbourhood located on an artery that serves as a commercial, residential and cultural destination. In addition to having access to the majority of their essential services within minutes, future residents will be well served by the strong public transit system already in place, reducing their dependence on the automobile.
At Brigil, we aim for happy densification, which means planning new living environments that include public transit, green spaces, businesses and a social mix," explains Jessy Desjardins, Vice President, Development and Design at Brigil. "We want to reduce urban sprawl and alleviate its economic and environmental impacts.

Edit: little typo in the title. It's 230 units.
