Photobucket

Well, this sucks. Since I signed up here I've been using photobucket to post images to the forum. Without any prior warning, the ability to post images to external sites is now a premium feature. You may notice that the images on my posts now look like this:

"OK, whatever, I can afford a little money," I think, and go to find out how much it costs. It's $400/year. Even if I wanted to splash out that much money, I don't trust the site any more. So the upshot is that many of posts now convey no useful information at all. Over time I might try to edit some of them, but I'm really annoyed that I have to.

Well that is just lame, I have always just used Flickr, they don't seem to be interested in screwing people over like that.

RIP photobucket.

I never liked them anyways. More tedious to sign up for and use than flickr. Hard to search.

It was sort of a "better the devil you know" situation. I'd been using their service for so long that I didn't feel like changing. I guess I will now. I just really wish that they hadn't broken all the old content.

I'm just trying to do the maths - exactly how long will it take you to edit 53 HUNDRED posts?!! You are literally the sole reason this forum works. Thank you Mac. And sorry for your loss.

I've noticed a TON of those the last several weeks, all over SSP. I guess we better get used to the sight of them because they probably aren't going anywhere.

I use Flickr. They have a "BBCode" link for each photo under its share button. It's a little annoying when you want to post a lot of photos - I've yet to find a batch method of posting a tour, for example. But for the most part, it gets the job done.

Well, I'm moving to flickr (nice side benefit: can upload files directly from the iphone photo app without the need for a third party app). So far I've replaced all the image links in the Heartline (Block 136) and 1430 NW Glisan threads. It may take a few months, but I hope to replace all the image links over time.

some forums now you don't need a flicker or Photobucket or whatever. Maybe the forum will update some time. I've been using photobucket since 2008 and never had a problem

Fat chance. I've been on this site for 14 years and, as far as I can tell, it looks basically identical to what it did back then. Let that sink in.

"In Da Club" by 50 cent was fresh off the presses and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles. I also had a lot more hair.

Me and many others have been asking for basic forum app compatibility (Tapatalk or whatever) for years and that hasn't even happened.

That is quite an endeavor.
