Justizhochhaus Wuppertal was when completed the second tallest highrise building in Wuppertal and
the main court building of the city. The building was connected with the old court building
through a gangway, which had the nikname "Beamtenlaufbahn".
Justizhochhaus Wuppertal had in Mid 1990ies numerous deficits concerning fire safety as much wood
was built in the walls, which was against fire safety laws. After removing this the building would
have had to be rewired. After also asbestos was found one decided to demolish the building and
replace it by a new one.
The building was cleared on March 17th, 1998. It was demolished between March and June 2002.
Demolition by explosives was not possible, because the famous suspension railway runs nearby.
The upper floors were demolished by a diamond saw, the lower with a rope excavator.
On the site of the building, there is today a highrise building with 6 floors and an area of
9600 square metres, which was built between 2003 and 2005 and inaugaurated on August 31, 2005
