It will eventually cover State from North Temple to 3300 S. I don’t know what the thinking was on how best to initiate the proposal, but they are starting with that 600-900 S section. 🤷🏼♂️

I'm also wondering if Alh is talking about the big Elk's Club Project, which is on South Temple. Here's the development at 144 S. 500 East Orlando, posted earlier by Blah_Amazing. The Lotus developments are just below So. Temple and across the street from each other. They are on 300 East.

Yes Delts, that's the exact project I was talking about. I searched everywhere for it but couldn't find the exact name haha.

Also Orlando, I'm talking about 348 South Temple.

Per Title 17 U.S. Code § 120, I have permission to post this. For security reasons, it is not my picture.

I have no idea what the mechanism is for transferring a road from UDOT control to city control. I imagine at the very least that UDOT would probably want some kind of concession - maybe a trade to take over control of a different road or something. Either way, I can't imagine that it would be easy, otherwise Salt Lake City would've probably taken control of several of these roads already. I'm sure they would jump at the chance to take over all of the city roads that are under UDOT control.

Love your thought process here but UDOT will never, and I mean never, cede control of their highways to the city. UDOT is one of the biggest impediments to our city overcoming it's car centric design challenges. They literally do not care about the capital city. They are a clearinghouse for sweetheart construction contracts and that's all.

This seems to be true, but why allow life on state then? I'm guessing since the project is only really minor changes they aren't making any concessions. This is most worrying imo for the future of 500/600S... aren't those UDOT?

Nice post boz. I always thought it was smart/cool the walker center spire lights indicated the weather forecast. I would love a significant spire one day

Correct, together they are State Hwy 269. UDOT also has West Temple and the notoriously terrible 900 S. offramp.

I’m so excited to fly back to Salt Lake in two weeks. It’s like owning property in Disneyland being the reason I have to go back. I guess family being there too is a factor. With all the projects going on I’m going to spend a day driving around to check them out.

My family and partner have finally just accepted that I’m a development junky.

I wish this platform wasn’t such a pain to add pics to.

There is a reason why I don't add pictures to this forum anymore. The last time I did half of the pictures stopped working within a week of posting. Call it first-world problems. I do get out from time to time for pictures but they have become ones used for personal instead of being shared.

I was just thinking how exciting it will be to see the different areas of this angle of downtown evolve over the next few years. I'm anxious of course to see Astra take a prominent new tallest place in the skylines center. Also, the additions like Domain, Convexity, and Sundial, that will stretch the skyline further south. It will also be cool to see how the West Quarter, and the CCH among others changes the iconic view from the Northwest.

I was out on a run yesterday and noticed the Lotus Republic project is starting to show progress. Sorry, not a great pic but I was on S Temple when I took it.

It looks like the Sears site approval is still working on financing, while Kozo House is being extended to incorporate more community feedback and possible design changes. It sounds like Kozo House may end up being downsized, but likely not canceled outright.

If you know them (developer), have them call me!!

Very impressed by the concrete tower technology. 15+ years ago, I think Liberty sky and the CCH would have been steel.

They would have been concrete 15 years ago also. All of CCC towers were concrete. It is more common to use post-tensioned concrete on residential floors because the lower floor to floor heights compared to offices and also the elimination of any beams.

Interesting Orlando. I'm a finance guy, so I really don't know.

Does that mean that Astra, State Street, and Convexity will all be concrete?

Thanks.
