Yes, they do! They have multiple restaurants at SLC airport. They have Shake Shack, Panda Express, Starbucks, Smashburgers, and all kinds of stuff.

Those aren't "local," but SLC Airport does have plenty of local establishments as well.

In Phase 2, alone, they will have Millcreek Coffee Roasters, Hugo Coffee, Blue Iguana, Rockwell’s Ice Cream and Vessel Kitchen to name a few. That's not including any that are already open in the new airport.

There was an article in the media clippings included in the last board meeting indicating that SLC has some of the cheapest airport beer in the US. I'd say that's pretty good for SLC.

Just found this, SLC ranks 2nd to Portland, with avg beer price of $5.

Here is the original source.

Quote:
Prices from drink menus from the 50 busiest airports in the United States were manually collected and averaged together. Prices shown are for "macrobrews," which FinanceBuzz defaulted to Budweiser and Bud Light. In some instances, the prices for Coors or Miller were used where Budweiser products were not offered. Prices reflect the cost for a regular-sized draft, with bottle or can costs used when drafts were not available. Prices were collected from a minimum of three restaurants or bars per airport.

Airport progress December 2 2022

Snagged a few photos this morning while headed out for a few days.

Concourse A East viewed from the south.

Concourse B East viewed from the south.

Best view I could get of the other side of A east with jet bridges installed.

Since we are on the topic of places to eat, here is my personal pick. Great prices for an airport and fantastic food. Located in Concourse B right out of the mid-concourse tunnel.

Editing to add this A Concourse East pic I grabbed while we taxied.

No, I didn't say anything about P.F. Chang's. And no, that isn't a local establishment, either.

Wow! Excellent photos! Thanks for sharing this! I did see the concourse A East and concourse B East. It’s really coming along nicely! Still ongoing construction the concourse B East.

More bridges on A Concourse East.

As posted by the airport on Facebook today.

Still an absolute travesty that they didn't shell out a couple extra bucks to get glass ones.

Cost isn't really the issue, climate is. They already struggle to adequately heat and cool the current ones, glass ones would be so much worse.

The only places I've ever seen these is airports with cool, temperate climates (CDG and AMS are ones that come to mind).

According to the internet, it's apparently also discouraged by fire code due to potential congestion (from people stopping to look at things).

Did I say that NO airports in America have them? I said very few. And that is true.

Kansas City is getting them. Not exactly the same climate, but not that far off either.
