In what should be a surprise to no one, abeit still dissapointing, the Port of Vancouver Truck Licensing program implementation date has been pushed back yet again.

New date is six months from now: April 3, 2023 and they up'd the truck age limit from 10 years to 12 years to boot.

I haven't been on the Seabus since COVID hit, so it's interesting to see them passing each other so close to the south shore. They always passed way out in the middle of Burrard Inlet when I was on them. That was back in the days when peak service was once every 15 minutes - I assume that means the photo was taken during one of the periods when they're running at 10-minute intervals.

Horrible.

"In discussion with Transport Canada, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority will defer implementation of the Rolling Truck Age Program by a final six months to April 3, 2023. This program phases out older container trucks serving the port, for the benefit of the region’s air quality and local communities’ health."

Web page does say "final" extension, but forgive us if we are a bit sceptical at this point after so many delays.

For Canada? I know Walmart had one of the early pre-orders in for their distribution centre in Surrey(?). We could see some on the roads here in 2023 which would be super cool.

They had 130 of them on order across Canada. They just mentioned Surrey would be zero waste.

Oh yeah, the Semi is hugely delayed, not the first time for them. You can argue the reasons, but I'm excited to finally see it on the road.

It's just as bad as the ID.Buzz, which VW hyped for five years before finally getting around to making one.

Making one with weak specs! Give me something that does 600-700 kms with lots of onboard power.

I was tempted but it looks to be underwhelming and overpriced.

The Tesla Semi will probably be a slow trickle for a while. They make more revenue selling cars than trucks for the same amount of batteries. Since they're currently battery limited, they probably won't produce many semis until their battery supplies grow substantially.

Sorry I meant on-board power as in the 120V and 220V plugs, like the F150 has and Cybertruck should have. The F150 can output 9.2kW, which is amazing. Enough to run a home.

Lucid air looks great as a high end luxury car, replacement for a Bentley or RR.

I don't know what the long run production goals for the Semi are, but even 50-100/week will start to make a difference.

June PDF Update from Port.

September 2022 Port Facebook post says "We recently completed the demolition of the Heatley Avenue overpass". The video above is of "stage 3" of the demolition.

Seeing as they say it is complete in the September FB post, I'm assuming "Stage 4 May 2022" was also completed.

Does anyone have any pictures of the new look of the south end, eg Heatley Street from Alexander to Powell?
