Yes I think it is done. A girl I work with is moving in tomorrow night. I think she said she is one of the last to move in. Super nice looking building, just wish the people who built it are responsible for paving that section of the road heading down to the Sears building it must have 50 potholes in a 100 meter rd.

Does anyone know if the Canadian Tire in Summerside is going to be bigger and was by there a few days ago and it looked like they were doing some work to the building? Also, anyone know what is going next to the International Truck business and also what is going over by the Petro-Can in Stratford. I see Weightwatchers is gone from over by Sobeys out by the mall in Charlottetown.

Not sure about the others, but the Stratford project by Petro-Can is going to be a gas station. There’s a public meeting next week about it.

What’s frustrating is that the Grey Group wants to build this new gas station. But in their big Disney World vision for Stratford this corner shows office space. They’re already not following their own plans…

I just watched their video of the Crossroads project. I have seen it before, but yes it does show office space across from the current Petro gas station. They also say that they are looking to build higher than wider. That seems like what everyone wants but it never seems to happen. I have lived in that area for the past 10 years and just built this year in Mermaid but I would love to own a somewhat high rise condo in Stratford but we will see what they go ahead with.

New fire hall in Summerside

Who wants to bet this will be completed before the one in Charlottetown? Dang slow they are in getting this cities third fire hall started.
I hope Summerside has a look at the new state-of-the-art station in Stratford before construction.

CBC NEWS PEI

The City of Summerside has reached a purchase agreement with Pan-American Properties for a parcel of land just under a hectare (two acres) located between the Cineplex Cinemas and where the old vocational school used to be......

It’ll be announced tomorrow or Wednesday that construction of Charlottetown Station 3 is being put on hold and will not being going to tender in 2022. Pathetic.

We’re excited to share that Samuel & Co have officially opened their brand new store here at Royalty Crossing!
They’re conveniently located beside SoftMoc and across from GBS/ Telus!

I was talking to someone about that yesterday. Sure has turned into an eyesore! The building behind it isn't much better. What a great spot for
affordable apartments but with all the restrictions and opposition against
development downtown from the locals and city hall, that will never happen.

Major Apartment Development off Mt Edward Rd

This is a major development at 257 - 269 Mt Edward Rd and I'm sure it will spawn reprisals from the Don Reid family of NIMBYS. This is 344 units in total and contains six storey apartments and 4 storey apartments which I'm sure will grind the teeth of the residents of Ash Dr based on it will block their view of sunsets.

This is going before the planning board meeting on July 4th.

I was reading this one, too. Sounds like a great project. The developers are prepared to dedicate ground floor space in at least one apartment building for commercial space to help improve walkability. They’re leaving it up to the city, it’s a zoning issue right now, which is sad. The city really needs to encourage residential over commercial.

Some pictures of the new hotel at credit union place and the giant dome the city has built there as well.

Also a rendering of the new 29,000 sq ft tops to floors building that’s being built next to Atlantic Superstore.

There is an absolute ton of construction going on in Summerside lately. The French schoool recently had an addition, there is a car wash being built next to the Nissan dealership that’s on Pope Road across from the tax centre. There is a also a new subdivision on the site of the old starlight drive in Theatre and a subdivision very close to the intersection of MacEwan road and Walker Ave. There is also two new subdivision off of route 2 just before you get in to Kensington. I wasn’t able to get pictures of all of these but maybe somebody who lives on the island could.

I think all development should require commercial space on the bottom. Also get rid of parking minimums so that the developer can figure out how many is actually needed. I hate to see what I call "condo sprawl", where we have condos that are just as car dependent as single family housing.
