Looks like the last floor of the podium, then it's tower time!

Couldn't happen to a more deserving group.
Don't confuse WLCO with NOWL. The latter was the one throwing around unofficial height limits (but only when it suited their needs).

^Amazing how quickly Nobu Hotel went from being a game-changing development for Fulton Market to afterthought.

Most of the West Loop was built in the time it took them to construct Nobu lol.

Huh? WLCO was in the NIMBY game for years before NOWL existed. I remember them coming out hard against any tall new buildings west of the Kennedy in the late days of Mayor Daley. Then they softened to "no tall buildings west of Halsted" after Skybridge went up.

When Rahm came in, he basically opened the floodgates in Fulton Market. Morgan stop was built, Google and McDonalds came in. WLCO mellowed out under new leadership, so the most hardcore NIMBYs founded NOWL as a splinter cell.

I bet most critics quieted down when their real estate values skyrocketed and now realize they sat atop a gold mine.

Am I missing something? The render shows a ton of steel. So far it's all concrete.

That’s the cladding. The internal steel frame will start rising around the core somewhat soon once it’s far enough along to allow that work to start on the lower floors and they finish what they need to on the podium.

I’m assuming the podium needs to be concrete because that’s where the parking is located.

Thanks.

It'll be interesting to see how they pull this off. Those are chunky steel beams and steel bracing components, etc.in the renders. Now it's cladding? K. Grab some popcorn.
