This is a good point. I drove by the VG this weekend and thought about what is going to happen with it. It could lend itself to be a mix of things, a proper plaza, with green lining, while cleaning up some of the roads approaching, and fix the grid.
It is the Southern anchor to a commons, so should be publicly focused in what ever use comes of it. That shouldn't mean it some rationalization couldn't happen with the area to move traffic to better routing.
The problem of coming to a decision is as mentioned by Keith, is the local vocal minority. Who have for some reason the access to the loudest loudspeakers. There has to be a Sun Tzu, or Machiavellian strategy to coop, and then usurp that ability to have so much sway. It is going to be needed when the Wanderers look to expand. If Wanderers grounds is hotly contested, maybe the VG site could be the new home. Lift the turf so you can still call it Wanderers Grounds, and now as some have added to the idea before, it's closer to the Universities which would add to it's profitability. The location in relation to the pubs and restaurants would compound too. And yet the LVM would scream till they were blue or the land turned back to wild. So how do we fix them?
