I also prefer the current version by far. It appeared that things stalled out, but I drove by this afternoon and more groundwork is taking place.

I don't hate it but boring and looks like a great deal of the development we're already getting in Salt Lake. There's too much brick and not enough modern influences.

It's a big reason I like 650 South Main.

This, tho? It's a mediocre development. We'll see if it looks better than its rendering, tho. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm thinking there's a good possibility that this is one of those situations where the actual product will look better than a lot of the renderings, especially this first rendering below, which is the one we most often see. It's a pretty boring rendering,
due to the opaque presentation of all the glass and there is a lot of glass. If you visualize all of the glass windows and balconies as translucent I think the final product will be quite attractive. Having rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and
a lot of light coming in is a big selling item these days, especially with the upscale market. While maybe it will never be as stunning as 650 Main or Sugar Alley, I think it will at least come out as reasonably handsome. Ha, probably I'm just too
glad that this development is happening on a lot that was so severely underutilized at that particular location.

Can't wait for that view of downtown behind Moda Luxe to be obscured by the new liquor store's 9-story parking garage.

LOL, What floor is that pool at anyway? I wonder how that whole arrangement with the parking garage and pool area will turn out. Seems like a major lawsuit just itching to happen. I can't fathom the developers of Moda Luxe not having to do something artistic with that situation, even if it's just forcing them to put a creative covering on the parking garage, and a fancy wall, and a lot of landscaping around the pool area. Somebody really dropped the ball here, and I can't imagine a battle royale not happening if that parking garage is not modified. Though too, remember when 99 West residents threw a fit because there was the possibility of a hotel tower blocking their view to the west. I mean do we have a group of downtown nimbys or what? I appreciate it's hard not to block Salt Lake's beautiful views, but for crying out loud it's supposed to be a downtown. Developers and the city had better stop playing games with prospective tenants. If views downtown are going to be given then people are going to have to pay handsomely for it and the city and developers should deal honestly and upfront whether a view is protected or not or exactly what and where views could be obstructed and by what.

Oh well, probably the backside units are the less deluxe and lower rent. Again, it is a downtown and even in beautiful Salt Lake City, you can't always have pristine views of mountains and glorious sunsets.

It was the original proposal in 2018. Old yes, but not that old. Note 111 Main in the background.

What is the new construction in the distant background to the left of Sugarmont?

It's the Park Avenue Apartments at the former Shopko site.

No problem delts. I might try to get some more photos of other projects this week.

Here's a shot of the first pieces of glass on 650 Main. Source is u/dozensoffish from the subreddit:

Also, here are some recent shots of Dixon Place I found on Kier's website:

That park has the potential to be dead because it is isolated, and you have to walk up to it. That garage is a barrier, and it's nice that they are trying to do something nice with it, but I really believe the City should require a through-block connection through that garage.

I agree completely, Orlando. I think putting a park on a parking garage could be a new version of the "lipstick on a pig" adage. It will not be effective.

Interesting story of someone trying to buy the Utah Theatre in a last ditch effort to save it
Some info in there about how the contract with the developer is not yet finalized.
