Happy New Years to you too Signal

Currently -4C and clear in Moncton at midnight. Fuck off 2020, I'm ready for 2021!!

Finally, a New Year's present for Tancredi, who seems awfully interested in our frigid Canadian weather patterns when viewed from afar in the Mediterranean paradise of Sicily.

Here is a Youtube video of an ice skater on a secluded lake in the Albert County hills of NB, not too far from Moncton, taken by drone pilot Eric Goggin. Enjoy!

Video Link

BTW, the thing the figure skater is sitting on when she puts on her skates at the beginning of the video is a beaver lodge. I don't imagine you have any of those in Sicily.

Happy New Year from a frigidly cold Uptown Waterloo. A clear night for star gazing ... wish I was near Nithburg tonight. The smell of smoke is in the air, the kids are shooting off fireworks, cheering, the shouts of their ill-timed countdowns. Cheers to 2021.

1C and sunny. Temperature was steady pretty much the whole day!

As high as 3C last night.

The warmspots were Shelburne Sandy Point and Sable Island, NS at 9.9C.

Happy New Year everyone!!! May 2021 be better than 2020 for all.

It’s a chilly morning - some frost - but nice enough. Went for a short drive from Rabbittown to Downtown.

It's difficult for me to think of something I find more beautiful and graceful than a female figure skater.

Add a setting like this and it is just magical.

Happy New Year to you too MonctonRad and to all forum users. MonctonRad I can tell you very sincerely that when I faced this video I I got excited.

It is incredible that just a few kilometers away from your home there is such a beautiful and fairytale forest.

I am not an expert zoologist but I do not believe that in Sicily there are beavers, except perhaps in the bio-parks. Here in some time with global warming we risk seeing camels and crocodiles. :scappa:

I really like these videos from cars or those when walking around the city streets because they are the best to understand how cities are made.

Cloudy, sun starting to break through the sky, a bit windy, and a seasonable 0 degrees at 10:40am. Pretty chilly day in store tomorrow before yet another warm up to unseasonable temperatures early next week.

In addition to Canada, Scandivania, like Norway, is experiencing an exceptionally warm and little snow period.

Here's another Eric Goggin drone video that I've always admired.

It follows a snowplow operator making his first cut on a rural road in Albert County after a winter snowfall. I think the operator is just making an educated guess as to where the road is when he crosses the open fields.

Video Link

These hills in Albert county are part of the Caledonia Highlands and can rise to over 400M in elevation. They lie about 25-30 km south of Moncton.

Gotta hope you don't drop two tires in a big ditch doing that. Anyone ever seen a stuck snowplow?

Currently snow, ice pellets and freezing rain all falling at once down here, pretty messy New Year’s Day.

Avalanche risk very high in southern BC.

Up to 50cms to fall on Kootenay Pass on Highway 3.

2020 EC weather data is in.

Here's a chart of daily highs for Halifax Dockyard, 1 dot per day, Y axis is temperature in degrees C:

Mean daily high: 12.7
Mean daily low: 5.1
Mean daily mean: 8.9

Highest high: 32.3
Lowest high: -7.9
Highest low: 19.8
Lowest low: -15.4

The number of days over 30 is much higher than expected but I haven't calculated an annual average for this station and EC hasn't published it either.
