I thought they designed it specifically for tech office. The plates are pretty big, which, in general, is what tech companies want.

Wasn't 111 Main taken up by Goldman Sachs? I think some of 95 S. State will be utilized by the L.D.S. Church, but I thought like Orlando said, the majority is geared toward tech companies.

I think the vast majority will be office space for other companies. The LDS Church will only occupy the bottom level or two. Info from an article from last year

Quote:
The building will have 498,000 square feet of Class-A office space, along with 39,000 square feet of "meetinghouse space for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

The office space and church meeting space will have separate entrances and be operated independently from each other.

I was fortunate enough to lay eyes on some renderings of the Regent Street proposal, and it looks nice. Maybe my architectural taste is a bit different than others, but I liked it. It looks like something you might see in Austin or San Diego. I hope they don't wait too long to put these out there. (Sorry, I don't have the images.)

Sounds exciting. There is some cool stuff in SD and especially Austin lately. How tall would you estimate the Regent proposal is?

Not sure how good I am at estimating these things, but looked to me to be over 300', but shorter than Kensington next door.

How do you have access to these proposals?

Pictures or it didn't happen. Hahahaah. But no REALLY. Dakota Pacific bought that thing out. Wondering if they are the primary or if they have a vertical partner? None of my business of course. I know they are very capable but I don't know if they've ever built a tower.

Very cool. So I'm guessing it's no longer in that wonderful Sullivanesque revival style that the previous proposal was?

Kensington Tower is requesting a time extension at the next PC meeting, by the way. Maybe we will get some new info and renderings out of that.

That awful, massive affordable housing project proposed on North Temple is open for public comment now.

Edison House

I notice all these really nice photos on the Edison House website that I don’t think have been shared on here yet. If they have, oh well. I think the place looks awesome!

It's been pretty slow on here lately, so here are some updated areas of the city with projects proposed (gray) and under construction (light gray/white).

This is looking over the Depot District towards downtown. Some of the buildings in the Station Center are based on the winning Station Center proposal in 2016 and the proposed year your open market building and a few other buildings. So, those are the least promising, because we know that the winner of the Station Center withdrew, and I have no idea what the status is of the market building. I do know the owner of one of the large lots in the Station Center area, that has been developing ideas for that lot, but I do not know what it is yet.

Here are couple shots of the south end of downtown where we are now seeing a more vibrant mixed-use development being redeveloped over under-utilized industrial/auto-oriented sites. It's great to see that Main Street will now have continuous urban development stretching down to 8th south. The Sears block will be key to that and the block between 4th & 5th south where the proposed Hines Tower and PEG development are proposed.

Here's one with all of the proposed development in Grand Boulevards area looking down 6th south from I-15 towards south downtown. The Post District on the left, the proposed new buildings from Industry on the right, the proposed development with Red Lion Hotel further down the road and then all of the stuff at 6th and Main, etc.

Here are a couple shots of downtown.

This one is from the northeast:

Excellent as always, thanks Orlando. It's great to see what the transformation of the western areas of downtown will look like. I love what's happening in Midtown too. It's going to become a new urban neighborhood in the near future.

The third picture really makes you realize how many underutilized parking lots there still are in our city. Also, what is that tower you have on the southeast corner of State and 600 S?

It was rumored on here at one time. I don't remember who listed it or when.

I was going through the various SSP pages in the SLC Development thread and found it was first discussed around late March to early April in 2018.

JMK made the first post.

The plans changed over time and it was later changed to a 2 phase project. Phase 1 is under construction now: 6th & Main (Lowe Property Group). Phase 2 is still planned but no date yet and no rendering. I think it was planned to be 25+ stories.

Hopefully this helps.

Awesome work! I do like how filled in west downtown looks to become, but if the council doesn't approve that height increase I feel it will end up a big missed opportunity.

Phase 1 is already under construction and above ground. Phase 2 won't start for a few years. They can't start until the Post Office lease expires.
