Hi Delts happy new year! I got nothing solid. I had beers three hours ago with some folks involved. They are making a push for a new tower proposal on Regent. I'm not sure it's even a hotel deal. Nothing more than that but I'm hopeful.

Hey Marv, The question by Orlando and one other Forumer I think was related to the developer being associated with development other than suburb style apartments. I remembered you saying that they also had multiple interests in many large projects that were not being shown on their website

Dakota Pacific has done some very nicely designed, urban projects. Their current project under construction in South Salt Lake west of Winco is a great example. I've seen renderings for their potential project on Regent St. and I was very impressed. It would compliment the Kensington project very well. I was a fan of the original Regent St. Hotel project but they could never get the financing put together. I have far more faith in Dakota Pacific to actually get the job done.

I am happy to hear this because I was so impressed with the Regent St. Hotel concept. I loved the brick and styling and was very disappointed it feel through. I hope it is not an office building though since Regent needs as much 24/7 traffic as possible.

New article in KSL indicating Fulcrum labs is moving its head quarters to Downtown SLC. There were also some opinions giving as to why downtown is better for small start up and Lehi better for the Unicorns. A pretty big take away from the article is it’s difficult to expand or find enough space downtown. I’m hoping Tower 8 will help with lack of space and this bodes well for the Patrinely development as well to fill that need.

Boooo Lehi, your stealing downtowns thunder.

I checked this today:

http://youtah.com/utwxcams.php

....and someone had pointed one of the cameras towards the Salt Palace Convention Center. There was a crowd of people and an excavator out front. Was today the big kick-off for the hotel project?

Nice! That camera has some pretty sweet views of several current construction projects.

The CCH was announced as 28 stories, but now it's down to 26?

This makes me concerned that it won't be 335 feet tall anymore, which I believe is what was initially announced.

It looks a little stubbier in the new renderings than in the old. I'm guessing it will be closer to 315 ft now.

I noticed that on the official Sugarmont Apartments website https://www.sugarmontapartments.com/, the opening date has been changed to say 'coming 2021.' Those delays must have been really serious, since the original opening had been scheduled for Fall 2019, then it got moved to 2020, now its 2021.

Thank gawd. I travel to SLC twice a year for work and the Grand America has gone WAY downhill. You guys need a new upper end hotel!

Going from 335' to 315' doesn't make it look stubby... That's in your head.

It looks stubby because it’s footprint is huuuuge.

I said "stubbier" not "stubby". It definitely looks shorter than it used to relative to its width, so I assume the height has decreased with the floor count.
