If Canada gets an expo, it should go to Toronto, speaking quite frankly and honesty. A truly connected world city, which hasn't received an Olympics or Expo before like Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver. Unlike with a winter Olympics, Calgary does not have an affinity for a world expo.
The price point of an Expo is huge, with fewer revenue lines (IE no $1.2B from a global body like we were committed for the Olympics). Dubai 2020 is hitting $50B, and how many of you were planning to attend Dubai 2020? Pushing an expo is like pushing for a temporary Disneyland, and we already have the Calgary Stampeded. There is a hobbling expo pumper on the loose, and the idea is a hobbled one.
And the above is without even considering that Calgary citizens rejected spending $390M for $4B of infusion into Calgary. I can't see them wanting to risk for this now. And personally I think the we may have ticked off other levels of government now also, having rejected their generous offers that were on the table.
