Yea it’d be nice if people can go there and remind ministry of transportation to make traffic free flowing on that connector from both highways.

Ps: Are roundabouts that accommodate trucks a good compromise?

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/trans...ructure/projects/highway-91-17-deltaport

Open house June 28th for the 91/17 and Deltaport Way improvements. What a shame that they're only going to "improve" the 80th Street and 17 intersection not redesign it as an interchange.

I just posted that two posts back.

Yes, especially since another program lists that as a project and they want to see happen in the near future.

Again please take some pics at this event since no public boards / detailed schematics are available on their website.

Ask be sure to comment on how they should upgrade 80th Street to an interchange within this project (instead of the planned single onramp that is compatible with a future interchange).

The project designs are available (though only slightly more detailed)
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/drivin...-deltaport/hwy-9117-boards-final-web.pdf

Looking at the designs it look like free flow from any direction on highway 17 to highway 91 (any direction)
Free flow from highway 91 southbound to highway 17 (any direction)
One traffic light for northbound highway 91 to highway 17

The interchange with 91 seems unnecessarily complicated.

All that needs to be done is to add a straight flyover from Nordel (south) to 91 (south), then from 17-91 connector (east) to 91 (north), then make the loop from 91 (north) to 17-91 (west) a bit smaller.

96th Street should just get an overpass across both rail track and 17 (with a semi-free-flowing interchange from 91-17 to 17 and vice versa). River Way should be extended and fly over 17 to meet 96th Street. Access to Nordel will be closed.

I still think the truck inspection station shouldn’t have been there. It’s better off moved to River Way Extension (according to my proposal).

Oh yea and demand that an interchange be built at 17 & 80th Street.

A pretty decent design overall IMO.

Would like to make the 91 / Nordel segment completely free flow ( could be done with one more flyover and one more ramp).

The SFPR portion is great (and an improvement over the original concept).

The improvement to 80th Street has been downsized I see.

At first it was going to be a full on ramp to SFPR westbound, but now it is just an extended merge and wider shoulder using the existing allignment?

At first this annoyed me, but then I though maybe this minor improvement means that they will completely rebuild this section as an interchange sooner rather than later?

But if that is the case why not just do so now?

So yes, everyone please comment that they should just replace the 80th Street intersection with an interchange now within this project.

If done, the SFPR would become feeeflow from west of the new Pattullo to Tsawwassen.

why oh why leave a light. this is literally so close, it couldn't possibly cost that much more to do it right. otherwise, i think it is very good. WRT 80th, i don't know it so cant comment. though all freeways should be free flowing i think. (yes the SFPR should be a freeway)

Thanks malabrat for posting that link. So i can't tell is there still going to be a light at the 91 Connector and Nordel Way?
Nice job on the 17 and 91 Connector/River Road intersection. I think the off ramp from 17 west to the Connector eastbound should be a flyover instead of that quarter cloverleaf circle ramp. With the flyover trucks would have an easier time getting up to speed.
Still pissed about 17/80th/Tilbury Connector not getting an interchange but hey since this is BC at least we getting something half assed as a project. Better than nothing.

The Nordel Way / Highway 91 Connector intersection is going to be replaced with its own interchange.

In all there will be 3 new interchanges (H17/H91Connector, H17/River Road, H91Connector/Nordel Way) and 1 improved interchange (H91/H91Connector)

I wouldn’t call it improvement unless it’s completely free-flowing though. Or did I miss something?

Its very close. Its free flow between 17 and 91, except the northbound 91 to west bound 91 connector. There is a signal at the end of the H91 northbound off ramp.

From 17 (from any direction) to Alex Fraser and vice versa is freeflow. The connector will have no signals between 17 and 91.

How about they fix this ridiculous bump in the road? This picture does not do it justice, its a very severe raise/drop.

Tbh I don’t really mind as long as there isn’t too much traffic flowing from 91N to 17. I suppose that 91N to 17 makes little sense because people are better off using 99 in that case.

As for that bump, how much is the drop, and will eliminating the traffic signal ahead solve the problem?

What is the point of it? Why doesn't the province level the surface properly? The SFPR is just so mickey mouse

The signaled intersection from Hwy 91 off ramp turning left on the 91 connector has got to go. Should be a flyover.

There's no room for the a flyover, or rather, there's no room for it to merge. You would be fighting for space with the Hwy91 southbound off ramp.

I do agree with you here, this bump needs to be leveled. Was hoping it would be part of this project.

The section from The Pattullo bridge to just east of 116th (where the other major bump is) needs to be majorly upgraded as well. (though looking on google maps it does seem that that bump has been somewhat reduced since I last traveled on the SFPR a year ago).

1 of many bumps and imperfections on this crappy overpriced road. Feels like you can catch air on this bump if you go fast enough.
