The new 3,400-seat Viking Pavilion at Portland State University is in the final stage of completion and on schedule to open in time to host TechfestNW April 5-6.

The $52.1 million arena will host the school's basketball and volleyball teams.

The project features an expanded OHSU Sports Medicine Center, classrooms, athletic offices and a large weight room in a section that was once home to the school's swimming pool.

The building, which was designed by Portland architectural firm Woofter Architecture, was funded in part by $24 million in state bonds, $7.5 million sponsorship from Oregon Science & Health University, $1.5 million in student fees and more than $19.1 million in private gifts. The arena will also host concerts and other events.
