Has any activity happened on the tag 945 and tag 950 lots? I thought construction was supposed to start this fall.

I was saddened to hear he passed. It's really to bad we lost him because he had some pretty big plans. The last time we spoke about the hotel was literally the day before the OR pulled out of Salt Lake. At that point in time he was hoping to build the CCH on the corner of 1st south and west temple. There was one hold out property that he didn't have yet. It was going to be a mix use of commercial on the lower levels, hotel and residential in the tower.. He thought it would be close to 500 ft tall and about 1.3 million sqft. He said, to put that into perspective, the church office building was about 1 million sqft. He didn't mind if I shared these goals of his but I didn't relay that info because the next day the OR pulled out and I new that would be a big blow to some already lofty goals. As the months progressed I didn't hear much because he said he could say much more but things were still slowly progressing. I'm assuming the plans were in front of the GOED to be reviewed or what ever but I didn't hear anything after that. I'm assuming this will be another blow to the project. Perhaps he made plans with his declining health to keep the project moving. Salt lake will miss this large player with the ability to collect properties for a large development.

I'm sad to see him go on several levels.
One of the Hold out Property was the building with The naked fish. I believe he got that one, they have since moved out... The building on the corner may have been a hold up as well... not sure on that one.

Café Molise filed for a permit for the building on the SW corner of 400S & West Temple a while back... which is a good indication that they were being booted out of there. No word on the BTG wine bar... there is some construction going on on the south side of the building that Molise filed a permit on.

His radio interview was not long after OR pulled out. It was mentioned but he didn’t seem discouraged by it at all.

As said, there was another developer invold. He also had a partner on most of that property... I can’t remember his name but he was also in the video that X 96 did inside of aero press Square before they tour the building down.

I really hope they build the CCH before 2020. I would love for it to be 500' FT or taller

I would hope that with his passing that doesn't just leave all of those plans up in the air and that there's some kind of process that he left in place considering he knew he was sick.

I don't know/understand how the legal proceedings for this kind of thing works.

I'm actually in favor of preserving the remaining arrow press square buildings (like the Bennet Paint Building and The Dinwoodey) so Priskos' passing is somewhat a relief to me.

Could all his holdings be used for the Amazon deal?

1. I think he's referring to the fact that its the western edge of north temple (closer to the airport).

2. You're literally relieved that someone died because they were planning on tearing down two small historic buildings.

That is not true. Whenever a east-west corridor crosses Main Street along the grid it is refereed to as "West" Or "East" so either West North Temple Street or East North Temple Street. You just typically see it with a number in front of it.

How long have you lived in Salt Lake City?

Technically, whenever an east-west corridor crosses Main Street, it does not change the name of that street. 100 south remains 100 south regardless of what side of main street you are on. Furthermore, to communicate otherwise exacerbates the divide between east and west.

There is a 99 West on North Temple, written out 99 West North Temple, but there is no street called "West North Temple." By not being local to SLC, google got this wrong when labeling our streets.

And here I though I argued about some stupid shit... He’s obviously talking about the west end of North Temple.

But being someone who does like to argue about stupid shit... There is a west North Temple. It runs from Main to I80. East North Temple runs from Main to State... No East and West is not a part of the street name, but it is a proper location designation. People don’t generally use it unless it has an address number in front of it, but it’s not improper to use it, and is even acceptable when describing a part of the street.

Stop using Google Maps as your guide to SLC. This whole thing seems to stem from Google Maps. They label every street in the metro area like this. It drives me nuts. They have no way to contact them, which is super irritating. "S 1300 East" "W North Temple" etc.

In South Jordan, 10600 S turns into South Jordan Parkway on the west side of I-15, but Google labels it like the other streets. They think the street is named Jordan Parkway, but they put an S in front of it. When "South" is part of the proper name, you don't abbreviate it. It's literally nuts.

And Google, for some reason, has started dropping the first cardinal direction on addresses. So 846 E 900 South becomes 846 900 South. There could be an 846 W 900 S, so we do need all of the cardinal directions in Salt Lake.

Anyone know anyone at Google that we can explain this to?

If he was talking about the west end of North Temple, he should have written it "west North Temple." Capitalizing it makes it seem as though it's part of the name.

It's clearly referring to the "western end" of North Temple.

Speaking of the Outdoor show. Radio ads are being played right now about the new show the state retailers are putting on. Will be held in January. The Radio ad takes a shot at the old show by saying "now that the old outdoor show is not welcome here." Oh snap.

Exactly.

Yes, there is no such thing as a N, E, W, S prefix in front of any street name in Utah, unlike other cities (i.e, "W. Colfax Avenue, Denver"). The direction is actually a suffix that's attached to the address (i.e, "3252 West [street name]").

AND... it is also appropriate to talk about western North Temple Street by saying "west North Temple" but not by saying "West North Temple."

SLC semantics.

My thoughts as well.

This is just further proof that the Salt Lake City forum is now a dumpster fire and full of lame people.

I don't think making a post to call it pathetic helps anything either.

And neither does my post.
