It's a bad idea when there are buildings worth saving. None of those buildings, particularly the Francis Cabrini Homes themselves, are worth saving in any way, shape or form.

When did 2 Pru install LED lighting? The entire crown is lit in blue tonight. Makes me wonder what all the new towers are planning.

I just kinda assumed the 2015 plan was made obsolete by the expanded DX downtown zoning boundaries.

I've always thought it would be an interesting concept to rehab the row houses (some or all) and turn it into something of a public housing museum. NYC has one such museum I think.

On another note, I think the plan for this area includes way too much parkland for the density of housing that is planned for.

The best part is that this isn't Ald. Reilly's ward. It's a part of the 2nd ward, so we just have to pray that Ald. Hopkins doesn't given into NIMBY pressure

is there a reason to allow ourselves to even get a tiny bit excited?

it's like a great 1920s art deco supertall that chicago never got around to building until 100 years after the fact.

He listens more so to his Lincoln Park and West Town political base since they take up a much larger share of his ward than the small region in downtown. He voted against a 10 story proposal in the Lincoln Park area, but he hasn't blocked any development in the downtown section. We'll have to wait and see

Wow ...what an awesome looking building for Holy name site...actually has a Gothic cathedral look to it.. a nod to Holy name across the street...about time Chicago goes away from the box look! ... I really hate alderman power in this city... how one person can potentially stop the natural progression of highrise construction westward is beyond me.

Isn't he the same Ass-Battalion who blocked the redevelopment of the Father and Son Plaza strip mall?
