It's used exclusively for baseball as far as sports tenants go, but nothing fundamental to its character has changed... it's still a multi-sport stadium.

The concrete has been dug in; initial work has been completed to the seats. Plans are in place, much before 2026, to install a warning track, once that is in the seats will be fused with concrete dips that won't make it work for grass. You would have to fill in the divots with, then place sod on top that has no ability to drain. It would be a poor surface.
Soccer can work for the one-off event but it isn't feasible for a duration setting that would last days - unless of course, you are willing to replace the sod many times which is costly. It would be worse than the Silverdome in theory. Which if I remember had to replace the sod many times and it was still a bad surface to play on.
You can host other events at Rogers Centre, sure, but nothing is going to happen during baseball season unless it's a concert.
RC a baseball stadium now 100%, the stadium is also a piss poor soccer facility as well and isn't suitable for a FIFA event.
Also, why would Rogers accept anything from FIFA, if FIFA will just go to BMO Field where Rogers will make money off them anyhow from facility rentals and concessions. The double dip is already locked in. They have no incentive whatsoever to even think of accommodating FIFA at Rogers Centre (if it was even possible).
BMO Field isn't a palace but it is a very good and adequate soccer facility. It has a simple Euro charm to it that mimics some of the soccer barns across the ocean. Also, with expanded seats, BMO Field will be fine. Canada overall has poor facilities, this isn't anything new, so no point trying to downplay the best soccer facility we have in Canada at BMO Field.
