I doubt the next time they hold another pro soccer game they will get as many attending but never know, as long as they can get European or South American teams playing they will get a half decent turn out.
Great job NMS on making all the right decisions on design of stadium and field specifications.

It looks badass.....

A few recent photos showing the current status of construction of the new 8,500 seat downtown events centre in Moncton.

They're going to start installing the seats after Labour Day

Man it bugs me that the lighting in Ottawa's "new" stadium is so poor.
Just compare the games from Ottawa & Edmonton tonight.

^I've noticed that too. Reminds me of NHL games at SAP Center (San Jose).

I've definitely noticed that too. It's absurd how dark the games are, the end zones especially. It's like they haven't upgraded the lights in Ottawa since the days of black and white TV.

I know that even rickety old CanadInns Stadium would periodically add more lighting, typically to coincide with Grey Cup games. I wonder if the CFL could exert some pressure on the Ottawa ownership group to add a few more lights before this year's Grey Cup.

During this last month an over sight has become apparent at NMS in Regina.
While refrigerated beer is piped throughout the entire stadium in insulated piping, there are only FOUR drinking water fountains in the whole stadium and bottled water costs $4.50 a bottle.

http://globalnews.ca/news/3638179/2-people-taken-to-hospital-for-heat-exhaustion-at-riders-game/

This has lead to a higher than average amount of spectator heat exhaustion for EMS to respond to, as some parts of NMS soared to over >50C during the last Rider home game.

.
.
One positive side affect is that the opposing teams aren't use to the heat which causes an advantage for the Riders, such as with the win over the Argos week before last

^ IGF added water refill stations after the fact, I think they're essentially big tanks with spouts that you can use to refill water bottles. Something like that would probably be easy enough to bring to NMS if people demand free water.

Also have to wonder that by placing NMS to mainly block winds this creates a environment of lots of dead air movement which does not help temperatures. Much easier to stand the sun when you can get a simple breeze.

It's an overblown non-issue. Check the weather forecast (there were heat warnings all day prior to game time) bring water, move to the shady side (you can do that) if you cannot stand the heat but don't just sit there and die.

Also this may never happen again and within a month there may be complaints that people are too cold!

Now that scum sucking ambulance chasing Merchant Law group is aiming for a class action suit claiming "Refugee Camp like conditions". Are you fucking serious?

The Toronto fans have been saying that the east side stands at BMO are unbearable on a hot day... personally I enjoy the heat of a warm summer evening, but I have to admit that at the last Bomber game I found it absolutely sweltering in the east side sun. Fortunately a steady supply of overpriced Bud kept me from expiring.

So can we add east side stands to the list of things that climate change is ruining?

It would just be more wise to schedule games for the evenings during peak hot times of the year. In Canada "peak heat" is 6 weeks at most long, you maybe have 3 home games in that stretch, have them all early evening or night.

^ The trouble is that days are so long in the summer that unless you start the games after 9 pm, you're going to be catching some of that intense daytime heat. The really hot games can be anywhere from Canada Day to Labour Day... about a 2 month-and-a-bit stretch.

Personally I don't mind the heat, I prefer it to sitting outside on a below-zero day in October. But I can understand why it is uncomfortable for many.

I'm curious about some of those temperature numbers. I've been to some pretty warm places in my life - Phoenix in the summer can have temperatures close to 50C. I have a hard time believing that the temperature anywhere is Saskatoon was 63C, aside from inside a closed car parked in the sun.

To me, the weather is part of the experience of attending a game. As long as they let you bring in some water and have adequate refill stations, I don't see a problem. I'd imagine that American baseball fans in the southeast and southwest would be amused by our definition of 'hot'.

In the past, attending a sports event was basically sitting in the sun on glorified bleachers. I don't think water bottle refill stations were even present in old stadiums. There might have been some fountains. Is it because we now spend so much time in climate controlled environments that we have no tolerance for anything outside the norm?

^Part of the issue is that there used to be fewer restrictions on what you could bring in. Now bottles must be sealed and no larger than 1L. They also began confiscating anything other than water (i.e. no more bringing in pop or Gatorade even if it's still sealed). The organization also actively told people they can bring empty bottles to the stadium and fill them inside as a solution to the new stricter policies... It appears too many people took that advice. I wouldn't put the blame on people being unprepared; I'd say the greater blame lays on the city, exhibition association, and Riders for encouraging an option that would never be able to handle the spike in demand.

Also... As for the temperature charts, I'm sure there is some type of science behind how they came up with the numbers, but I was pretty shocked to learn I was baking in 50+ degree heat. It was a hot day, but it didn't feel that extreme. I'm sure heat will radiate a bit off the artificial turf surface though.

Maybe not this summer but the Argo's are use to playing in that weather but with the added fun of humidity. Talk to us in November when teams from warmer parts of the country need to brave your frigid conditions on the field.

Relatable.. I couldn't have said it better.

I think too many spectators had the same idea about being able to refill water bottles, unfortunately it was +35C at kickoff time that day in Regina so the number of water fountains wasn't going to be enough even before the game started.

True, radiant heat from the sun can make exposed objects temperature soar way passed air temperature & isn't the same as the weather air temperature of the day.

as already probably said, New Mosaic stadium's actual weather isn't any different than old stadium (besides the deflected wind design of new stadium). Patrons will just have to be aware of if they are in shaded area of stadium during certain times of day.
Could be worse, Argos fans went from climate controlled Rogers Centre to BMO and its frigid cold weather blowing off from Lake Ontario.. especially in the Fall
