^ Safe to say that's the best set of Saskatoon photos I've ever seen here. Bravo.

I think we had one a year or so back that was focused on the river valley that was pretty good, but that's still a strong collection that shows more of the city.

These are construction progress photos but I thought they were pretty interesting looking in general.

That was not a part of the city that looked like a festival kind of place. Very surprised. (That's the bit near the greyhound station right?)

We had recently some guests over that stayed in the Rosedale Hotel in Yaletown. I was a bit worried that this old hotel might be very outdated from the inside, but to our delight they had completely renovated the suite our guests were in.

In the lobby there is an interesting aerial of surrounding Yaletown and Downtown from 1992, taken just before the big condo boom began.

The hotel itself is not yet even built when this aerial was taken, but the very first Yaletown concrete towers have started popping up. The one under construction is the Rosedale Residences next door. Note how many parking lots there used to be! The CBC concrete bunker is very visible and the lot left of it, is where the City Library nowadays is. This view has today dozens more residential towers with almost every lot built since then!

In Downtown itself not that much has changed. Telus Garden is currently going up on the bottom left corner of the picture. You can see the unbuilt Coal Harbour in the top left corner, but otherwise there are not many buildings missing east of Granville. It's interesting really how little development has happened in that area in the past 23 years.

[/QUOTE]

Their room was located on the 19th floor. Remember the time when building elevators still had ALL the floor numbers?

From the room balcony there was a great view of the Vancouver City Library next door. The building is a gem in Downtown.

Nearby the Telus Garden residential tower is almost topped out. Tump Tower is visible in the background together with Living Shangri-La (our two tallest).

The balcony offered a nice panoramic view of surrounding city. I just love how many different architectural styles you can see in this view. Vancouver has some very nice variety in its core and is not all spandrel and glass!

I really love that retro neon! Great to see the resurgence.

Agreed! They did a really good job of preserving their vintage neon... it's an iconic part of Vancouver now. The new stuff just builds on that.

Beautiful series btw, Prometheus...

So beautiful! I noticed the leaves are changing in Calgary too. They're just starting here. It's still green with the slightly hint of colour in some trees... a bright orange leaf, or a general shade of brown near the top. But we should get a tropical storm/hurricane soon to suck the moisture out of them and they'll change quick.

A few livecam screengrabs:

St. John's:

Corner Brook:

But it's almost down to here already. Southern Labrador has already changed:

What makes Toronto so magical is all of the hidden away stuff. Like Baldwin Street, in this pic:

Toronto and Montreal obviously have this. Quebec City does a fair amount, too. Hamilton sort of does, a tiny bit. And I've never been, but the pics I've seen and the Google Street View trips I've taken seem to suggest that both Saint John and St. John's have this a little bit, too.
