Looks like in the future the plan may be to redevelop the White Spot/Shell site into a funky wrap around building around the just constructed Lougheed station curve.

I was going to ask if anyone knew about the Sears site. Since Sears Canada seems to be planning to fully liquidate all their real estate, something should be coming there.
Thanks for the rendition, but you need to add a source URL.

That sketch is from the LRT project, not the current ALRT/SkyTrain which is being built.

http://www.via-architecture.com/project/evergreen-line-lrt/

It is not quite to scale with the geography of the intersection. I suspect that the three buildings closest to the line depicted here have very little if any basis in reality.

Shape owns the site alongwith their ownership of the Lougheed mall lands.

Not sure if they managed to purchase the rest of the block (Esso/VanCity) or the stripmall block alongside with the White Spot

Oh I know that is from the LRT project. But do you really think that developers care what kind of trains are running on that curve? Since the elevated alignment in that short section is almost the exact same between LRT/SkyTrain, I can say that that sketch is still as accurate or inaccurate as it ever was.

Story from last Spring regarding Shape's plans:

Quote:
Part of the initial proposal includes an "iconic roof" over a new transit plaza area, which will be over the expanded bus loop currently sitting between Lougheed Town Centre's SkyTrain station
and the Sears outlet. The plaza may include on-street bus stops, shops, services and a bike centre.

Awesome! I don't recall seeing this before.
Anything remotely like that would be welcome.

Along Pinetree Way, the straight columns and the offset ones are all octagonal in cross-section, while the offset ones on North Road are an awkward, blocky 6-sided shape. Wonder why that would be?

There's a new photo on the Evergreen Facebook page showing columns along Pinetree ready for elevated guideway segments.

I noticed that about the North Road columns.
Maybe it's the length of the cantilever.

The North Road "arms" seem to extend farther out, so maybe more rebar is needed to tie in down to the ground, necessitating the "filling out" of the back corners of the column to square corners (to contain more rebar).

For the ones on the curve, the "filled out" corners seem to be on the outside of the curve - maybe to provide more footing.

Had to laugh at the 'artistic license' showing the two-car train taking up the entire width of the beam.
How the trains pass each other is just an engineering issue.

In the original LRT configuration, that portion was to be single-tracked from Lougheed Town Centre Station to just north of Cameron approximately.
