The only other view that comes close to qualifying as 'impressive' is from the Rue Laurier/Portage Bridge area.

But yes, the two new buildings fill in the eastern skyline nicely.

150 Elgin really draws some attention away from Bell from that vantage, but that's about all it does. 90 blows it out of the water!

Thanks! There are a few more that you can find in my Flickr set. It's been a while since I've gone out and explored and photographed our buildings, so this felt good.

90 Elgin and it's crisp glass corners is one of the best buildings in the entire region, no doubt about that. It deserves some sort of celebration.

But to be honest, I like Performance Court from this angle. It adds a bit of colour and variety to the view. It's also such a rich architectural cluster of things like Art Deco, Po-mo, Internationalism. I don't know what 66 Slater or the Lord Elgin count as.

What I don't like about Performance Court (other than the roof) is the white block behind the church. It completely ruins the view from that angle. Seriously.

66 slater is cheap simple Modern Architecture style, a poor rendition of the Le Corbusier style of architecture that was so common in Canada in the 1960's and 1970's. The Lord Elgin is a sort of French Chateau/Gothic Revival hybrid style.

I love 90 Elgin! I didn't think much of it until the glass was complete, but it's a really gorgeous building.

So we wouldn't define it as Brutalist, but more Corbusian?

90 Elgin makes everything around it look better then before! If only the Lord Elgin would have built slick, modern wings instead of trying to replicate (epic fail) the rest of the hotel, the view would be nearly flawless.

The diversity of architectural styles on this stretch of Elgin is pretty unique! 90 Elgin is one of the best of the bunch.
