I also am not a huge fan of the spire on this building. Being LDS I can see where people would look at this as a spire influenced by LDS temples. However, I just think that the spire design doesn't fit the design of the building. It looks like an after-thought, like they decided to put it up there at the last minute. The color doesn't mesh with the rest of the building and the dimensions are all off. I would have liked to see a spire like the one on the Trump Tower in Toronto. I think something like this spire would fit better on your new building there in Boise.

8th&Main Tower

11-1-13 photo of the beautiful blue glass with the reflection of a fall day with a bright blue sky. The spire in view without seeing the stacked boxes

Fall Reflections

Really love how the glass reflects the sky on the Zions Bank building. It is a wonderful addition to our skyline and helps make our city look beautiful. I especially love the effect it has on stormy days. Here is a time lapse video from earlier today.

Lovely video, Taiva. I wish they'd made the whole building that blue glass. Architecture Buff, nice reflection picture and Hawk your rainbow picture looks magical.

The new spire renderings look great! Looks like a continuation of the building rather than slapped on..

anyone know what the deal is with the construction cam? it looks like it's been wrapped in plastic or something.

Spire

Looks like the spire has been painted blue grey. Correction...it has not been painted just the light at time of pic. The added glass and lighting fins with the white spire will look awesome.
Cam pic from Sunday 11-24-13 of scaffolding going up to get ready for the glass and lighting change:
