Regardless, I actually believe that this stadium will be ready in time for the 2017 season. Given that I've been jaded by 25 years in the construction industry, that's a surprisingly bold statement for me. I don't think it will closely resemble the rendering that was presented to the public, but I do think we'll have a new stadium by then.

The City of Regina has narrowed the field and three groups have been shortlisted to submit bids to design, build and partially finance the new stadium.


REGINA — The City of Regina has narrowed the field and three groups have been shortlisted to submit bids to design, build and partially finance the new stadium.

Bouygues Construction Graham Community Partners, Clark Builders — Turner Construction, and PCL Construction Management have been selected to move into the Request For Proposal (RFP) process to design, build and provide partial interim financing of the stadium project.

The process is slated to begin in July.

The evaluation team worked with a contracted adviser, P1 Consulting, to evaluate each proposal in the following categories: proponent team, design capability and experience, construction capability and experience and financial and financing information.

In January, city council approved the funding and conceptual design of the 33,000-seat, roof-ready stadium at Evraz Place.

Construction of the stadium is expected to begin in spring 2014, and it is expected the Saskatchewan Roughriders will start their 2017 season in the new facility.

“We are extremely pleased with the responses we received from this competition, which includes some of the top stadium designers and construction firms in the business,” deputy city manager and CFO Brent Sjoberg said in a news release. “The diversity and mix of submissions were very strong and will put us in a great position to move forward to the RFP stage.”

According to a tweet by CJME's Patrick Book, PCL has HKS as its designer/architect. They did the new stadium in Dallas

With this being built at the same time as the U of R Student Residence and the Hill Tower 4 among another 2 potential towers in Regina, I sure hope the concrete plants expand to accommodate or add a temp mobile batch plant on the city limits. The service is tight as we are right now.

Hill Tower 4 isn't happening for a while...are you referring to FCC 2? AKA Agriculture Place (attached to FCC)?

I really hope they pick Turner for the stadium, they built Yankee Stadium... enough said.

Nice! Looks like this year is going to be an exceptional year mainly because of stadium expansion in preparation to host the Grey Cup. Labour Day looks like a pretty busy weekend for the city (45k expected)! The article states that next year's capacity will go back to 33k.

I guess this year's attendance won't influence (upwardly) the proposed capacity (33k) of the new stadium?

This story seems in line with what a number of us have been saying ever since they introduced Patel's renderng last year. That design set up some expectations that may not be realized in the final product.

Upon prompting the deputy city manager in charge of the stadium project, Brent Sjoberg, reminded Councillors the concept drawings released last fall were meant to serve as a guideline only. Mayor Michael Fougere concedes it's unlikely the stadium will look exactly the same.

"We have said all along that this is representative, it is not the final project and I think people will be amazed by what they're going to be seeing. And I don't want to overplay this because these are international companies that have built these around the world. You look at Wembley Arena as an example in London, England or other facilities (these companies have built) around the world they are world-class stadium facilities. I think we can expect to see the same thing."

I believe that was from Migs. Migs was sure about everything and wouldn't accept any outside information regarding the path a Conceptual Rendering would take to a final building rendering from the Actual Project Architect (page 86 of this thread).
