Given that the CIBC tower is as close as it is, I would think there would be no choice but the luffing Jib.

^It is a luffing Jib. The project's being done by Ellis Don and I have a source in the company originally from Halifax.

I was chatting to a guy who works in the tower. The expansionis working upwards gradually. They work on the 12th floor and need to move out in June next year for the refurb. They're then moving straight into the 4th floor, which will already be completed by June.

Driving by the AW Leil laydown yard in Burnside, I could be wrong, but it looked like there was a yellow Liebherr Luffing Jib crane in sections there - maybe this one?

I drove by tonight and a yellow crane base is in place. It looks brand new and appears to match the Liebherr crane I saw in Burnside. I will pop by periodically over the next few days to photograph the progress.

I agree, I just drove by, looks like the cab base is next up, then as I passed the Leil yard in burnside it looked like just boom sections left. This crane should be able to build itself, so it may just do the rest in its own as needed. Looking at the traffic control plan for the next few days it looks like they plan on closing Granville south of the site tomorrow, this must be to assemble the boom then raise it from there. I will have more photos when I am back home.

Nice photos kph, we must have been there around the same time. I was down doing a little shopping on barrinton and grabbed almost the same photo sequence (albeit a crappy cell phone version)

That last picture really highlights the blank wall, glass patchwork and overall strange proportions of this building. The redevelopment can't proceed quickly enough!

This is a popular crane, ha. Not much change by tonight but I was there anyway so... another picture
